Has anyone successfully put hinges on the "glove" boxes or side pockets lids on a rt? As I am new to my rt I get a little concerned that if I don't lock them all the time, they may go flying. If hinges were attached they would be secure and you could water proof the lids....two bonuses. Your thoughts please.

I have colour co ordinated zip ties drilled through the lid and surrounds. It has never come off, and as you can imagine, looks cheap and nasty. I believe it tells crooks that this bloke has nothing of interest in here. I don't recommend this for a smick looking bike like yours

mine had a strip of 3m industrial strength tape where you suggest hinges.
it worked well , held lids where they needed to be.
you know there is a spot for the lids whilst they are off ?

Not hinges, but lanyards.

A little custom job I dreamed up one night.

Lanyards made of plastic-coated twisted wire (about 14-gage) that are crimped to a ring and fastened to an existing screw on the front of the box.

The other end of the wire is then attached to a plastic fob (looks like a key fob) that has rubber strips epoxied to it. The other side of the rubber strip is then epoxyed to the bottom of the lid.

Now when the lid(s) are off they can just hang loose. Also, in event a lid comes off while riding the lanyards keep it from falling off the bike. Cool

Not to sure if the RT has the same setup as the LT... I haven't worried about either of the lids coming off on mine the catch seems to work really well and the only one I keep locked is the radio.

I have got a clip on the right hand lid which when it's open appears to allow it to slot down the side between the tank.... never used it mind and not sure it would be secure enough for riding around with...

Will post a photo shortly as it will explain it far better!
