Evening Folks,
I've been a member for a while now, but only just getting around to posting - I think I registered originally to get access to some attachments to a forum post!
I have an April '84 model K100RT. Ex police, though I've always been a little confused about its heritage.. The bloke I bought it off (a mates' dad) says he bought it off the cops in '87. But other folks tell me that if it *was* a cop bike it'd be a K100TIC, not K100RT.. So not sure..
I've had it since '04, put 60k km on the clock (third clock too.. sigh). In the last two years i've replaced the clutch, final drive, front and back master cylinders, and rear disc, converted to post-86 footpeg mounts, and to a post-86 exhaust. And had to tighten up that darned grub screw on the gear select shaft in the gearbox. It's been a busy couple of years!
Rode to Canberra last weekend to buy a trailer. Got as far as Goulburn on the way back, and the bike died! That was a long weekend! Couldn't get it running again on the side of the road, and I had NRMA on the car, not the bike - so they'd only tow me up to 50km. So i got it towed back to Goulburn, and the mrs drove down and picked me and the trailer up. Got home at 5am Sunday - then drove right back to goulburn with the 8x5 and picked up the bike!
About to post about the 'fun' I'm now having with the bike.
It looks from the forum like there's a bunch of Australian K100 owners on here - would be great to catch up some time, with some like-minded folk who understand why I keep this old beast
Cheers,
Damien
