A get well soon wish from the Emerald Isle. Seems to me you were carrying some Shamrock somewhere. You look more like some of us Irish Eccentrics enjoying a hearty breakfast at Stradbally Fayre......
I spent 3 months in hospital after writing off a car and could not wait to get out. But it was all broken bones and waiting for them to mend. It felt like the mind was 100% after a few days but the body lagged behind badly. My main problem was both arms out of action and both legs in plaster.
However I then faced the physiotherapists. That is when the real trouble kicks in. I began to think they were sadists but to be honest the physio is the single most important thing after. Gotta do it. One consolation was that some of them are quite good looking. Those are the ones to watch out for- the sweet smile while you are put through your paces again and again until you cry 'no more'..
The bike actually doesnt look so bad at all, probably a good move to repair it simply because its a good means of getting the body back in action but at a steady pace. At face value it seems to be fairing, mirror, seat, right hand side crash bar side panel pannier etc.
Not much we can do from here, but maybe we can do something to help get you back on the road. Perhaps some of us with a little coordination could sponsor or organise different parts to be sent to you. I imagine most of us have some spares lying around that might suit yours. A little reminder of the site and what we can do for each other. After all, once a K rider always a K rider.

If you ever feel inclined to head in our direction for a break let us know well in advance. . . we have means of making you smile.
By the way, in schools across the land in Ireland you are taught to put your hand up like that, accompanied by a question in Irish....'An bhuil cead agam dul amach?. [Unwill kad (rhyme with bad) a gum dull a mock]. If you have any Irish nurses/medics in the hospital try them with that question as you hold your hand up like in the photo.

Col, some advice. When I had my shoulder repaired, I asked the surgeon the day before whether I could play the violin after the operation. The answer was yes.....you beauty....I can't play it now and you, after the operation can make me play. His next response was " we will meet tomorrow, both of us will have gowns and caps.....but I will a knife!"
Don't ask too many questions. Good luck.

Blakey you made a good fist of that one...
I see rjtrucker has made a suggestion too as for parts and I think its a good idea. The other thing is I know some traders wont mail to Australia but maybe some of us can act as a forwarding service. I would love to do some small things because if the situation were reversed I and probably quite a few of us would need it to get back on the road.
I have been amazed at some of the repairs I have seen done to fibreglass and all that is required is time. I should not say this but they can even be done on a kitchen table.....
Col's hands will be an issue for a while and working on the K will be good physio. The trouble with all of us is that a few weeks in a bed and all the muscles go downhill and need exercising to get back on song.

Col, I have had hand surgery following a bike crash, wires put in etc & nerve damage. Its all over before you know it and your on the road again. Also, following a further accident (run over by a stolen car), I had skin grafts , leg surgery & ankle screwed back together. Again, over before you know it and becomes a distant memory. My only problem was that the doc must have screwed them to tight as my left leg ended up 5mm shorter than the right! All the best & good luck

This is quite interesting. We have met with GMcQ a few times and we know nothing of those injuries, not so apparent at all. I had 14 fractures from a car wreck and again its not obvious, restriction in my left wrist, ankle screwed together etc. I made use of the time after I came out of hospital to do things like work on a boat. Its good therapy. Over time these things get forgotten and we adapt to them, but the physio is extremely important because thats what gets the muscles moving again.

'We have great news, Col has just arrived on a new ward. He would like you all to know that his surgery went well. Right hand thumb has been fixed and skin graft on left hand also done. No wires needed. He did three of his tendons which were repaired back on Friday 28th December. He will stay here till Monday and if all goes well, we can take him home to our place that day.'
So that is it. Good job Col and thanks for letting us know Jo.
Bit of physio and I guess we can have him back

I hope Col has a speedy recovery and that he has no issues getting back on the horse. I'm surprised to hear he broke both wrist's, Those who are speaking with him may find out how that happened, as i cant think how a slide down the road would do in both, did he front end a tree or something?

Ok guys and gals I have good news and some bad news.....
Firstly the good news....Col and family can see the end of the tunnel as Cols hand job...perhaps could have phrased that better went very well.....but unfortunately as I arrived and shooed the plethora of visitors aside there was one that was starting to become a concern.....yes he was representing another motor cycle and trying to poach our Col....young Bluey was quickly reminded on which side Cols bread is buttered!!!!!
Turns out Blue is a top bloke who's parents may have instilled in him Anglophile tendencies (lover of all things english)....hence his mighty Triumph Rocket when he could have had a stable of K100's....perhaps we can convert him Col???
By the way Cols one working digit was not up to it so on behalf of Col and his family I pass on their greetings.

I rang Col this morning and he is still at Westmead in Sydney. It is easier for him to stay there to check progress on the skin grafts then it is to send him home and then have him travelling back and forth a few times.
His spirits are high and he should be back in Orange in about a week's time. He has worked out what needs doing on his bike.....except Jo is not too keen on him getting on a bike soon.

Col, hope everything is going ok. I've been there and done the skin graft thing many years ago and all is well. Ask the doctor to show you the machine for removing the skin they use for the graft . Its er........ interesting,

had lunch with the family jones today and other than hands which are just for looks at the moment things were very upbeat...had a very enjoyable visit and I am sure the Jones's are looking forward to going home...Thursday perhaps and yet again totally understandable that all involved realise that we are all very fortunate that Col is well on the mend.
It reminds me some are not so fortunate to have heaps of friends to visit them ( like Col has) and that a friendly face and a chat are good medicine should you hear someone is recovering in hospital go and visit...McDonalds, porn (bike mags) and stories are the go.
I remember 4B's in the 80"s pick me out...

Just remembered, when I spoke with Col he said he doesn't know where his pants and boots were. This could have a funny side to it in different circumstances.
