Got the bike going. Ign on. ABS light blinks, lamp warning light on solid. Take off, dab brakes, both ABS and lamp warning light blink in unison.

Back in the SHED. ABS RESET...good earth on the centre socket of the diagnostic connector. Hold the ABS switch down on the dash board, turn on ign. Wait for at least 30 secs...no change. Both lights still blink in unison.

Analogue voltmeter +ve to the centre socket, -ve to the -ve battery terminal. Switch on ign. Solid 10.5V, no dips!

Any thoughts? ABS doo-dad kaput? Job for Tosi?

That all sounds right but you need to look for dips before resetting the ABS controller.

ie. go for ride, then check for dips.

Yes Ulrich Jerry is right go for a ride first and give the computer a chance to figure out what is happening. While riding find a safe place and in top geat with clutch engaged turn the key of and wait a jiff then back on that will give the computer a chance to recover from the possibility of a slightly low battery voltage and give an accurate readout.

Took the yellow peril for a ride just now. Got back to the shed. Parked it. Connected voltmeter to the centre diagnostic pin. Initially at 10½ V. Then, 'lo and behold! The needle dipped. I counted the first dip from 10½ V and then subsequent dips, hovering about 5V, but noticeable dips. Did it several times and came up with a count of 7 (groan) as it indicates that the ABS control unit is fornisqued.

Then did a reset (earth the centre pin, hold down the ABS switch and turn on the ign.) No joy, same as before.

The words below are cut from a post by another member (Twincarb) who had the same problem

"First thing to check with a code 7 is to make sure the battery is fully
charged, I didn't know the history of mine so replaced it as well to be
on the safe side.

When you switch the ignition on can you hear
the rear modulator buzz slightly approx 6-10 seconds from switching it
on? and can you also hear the ABS relays clicking in for about a second?

I was left with a code 7 (sounds like a secret mission to me) i tried to
clear it for ages in the end I got in contact with Tosi Tabuki and sent
my brain off to him. He returned it in good time. my bike was still in
bits so still didn't have a chance to test it until yesterday. All
working perfectly now!

So I can personally recommend the service he provides. I suggest he will strongly suggest you fully charge your
battery and try again."
