Greetings fellow brickers,   Happy Holidays to all.

I am guessing that the K1100 shock  will add some weight capacity  to the K75, since there is a weight difference.  (1100 is heavier than 75)

The K11 shock is also longer than the one used on the K75, due to the paralever.

And it doesn't have quite as much travel (8mm).
Is it for the extra load you want this setup?
Maybe a slight increase in spring size would do the trick.

Thanks gentlemen, There are a number of problems:   the principal one on this thread is that the stock k75 shock won't handle two large adults on it's heaviest setting.   

Other issues at hand are the 120/70/17 rear tire, and lowered Corbin from Previous Owner.    I am 6'6" tall and 200lbs and mama is 5'9" and 140, we have bottomed out on modest bumps.      I am changing rear tire to 140/80/17 Avon and the seat is on the block also. 


I was just wondering if the 1100 shock was a viable option.   I don't mind a stiffer ride but the lack of travel is worrying me.

An 1100 shock wont solve the problem, I reckon you will need to go to a stronger spring or possibly a complete new shock where you can adjust the spring tension for the load. The RAM SHOX from Realm Engineering in UK would do the job and I think he would do a stiffer spring as well.

At RAM, they'll ask you weights of rider & pillion plus use, ie laden or not and recommend a suitable spring.

Thanks guys,   I just wrote Realm.  I noticed that the "high performance" shock is "shorter".  Perhaps there is a good reason for it to be shorter.  Taller would suit me better.    I will wait for them to answer and report what they say.   I appreciate your quick help.   So I will give them a try on your sage advice.  Smile

I just bought a Realm shock for the 100. They were great to deal with, very prompt, helpful, and a really nice looking unit.

I have a Realm shock on my K100. I got the 1100 version to gain a bit of height (I'm 6'5"). I have not noticed any issue with reduced travel, not even with a pillion and full luggage.
