I didnt find original fuel filter, but friend of mine offered Ducati type filter, black one. I was worried about the black color immersed in fuel, so decided to mount it out of tank. Voila 60 plus 60 cm of hose, few plastic straps, filter on the left side under the tank. Upper hose follow space under the tank, hose down follow the fuel rail. It works - easy to change filter next time.

Hello, more on heat insulation. Here is 35 degrees stil, so I tried desperately to insulate excessive heat. I added some rubber foil under the lower part of inner fairing. Thats 4 milimeter black foil used for floor in buses and public places. I cut it in form of inner fairing from bottom of air filter housing to bottom of inner fairing and glued with strong cianoacrylic glue.

Ok on the wrong place Nino, keeps everybody reading all the posts. Both are good ideas, especially the filter. Anyone see any disadvantage to this filter install? Definitely easier maintenance. Let us know how the insulation works Nino.

I think it definitely works. Very hot here, probably more than 35. I drove 50 kms this afternoon in shorties and sandals and it was really OK. Thats it finally. Keith check post heat insulation with photos of upper part of inner fairing and insulation of that part with rubber stripe (for car window).

Am I right in saying the filter is after the injectors? I see no other return line.

Is the fuel filter on the return line, from the injector rail to the regulator?

I would say he has extended the fuel delivery line out to there to put the filter there.
A good idea, if you extend both lines then you can get the tank off without taking all the plastic off, also extend the wire harness to the rear of the tank.
On the K1100 you can pull the tank straight back and access all the under tank stuff without any major job.

I was at a loss i thought he may have reversed the flow but asked the question rather than sit here speculating, I guess it would not hert to reverse the flow through the fuel rail????

On the K1100 it goes the opposite way to K100.
The delivery line goes to the back of the rail then from front to FPR then from FPR up between #2 & #3 TB and back to the tank. Getting the tank off is just so easy.

Yes, I removed fuel filter from tank connected hose directly, than extended the main fuel line and mounted the filter outside. I didnt touch reverse line from pressure regulator to tank at all.

+1
To ease removal of tank, I put in a snap connector on the line from tank to rail.

Erman, I like the idea. the best price I have found is about $55.00 usd ea. Thats for the plastic. Anyone have an opinion about the benefits of plastic vs the metal disconnects and is there a source that is less expensive?

I just got finished replacing the two plastic male portions of the fuel tank quick disconnects on my Big GS. They leak and eventually break. BMW has made the new version metal (for some years now), but have retained the plastic female side, which hardly ever break.

If you go for quick disconnects in either plastic or metal be sure that both sides are rated for fuel pressure!

Thanks Rossco. I have been looking at these for a while. Just waiting on confirmation that this was the way to go. Been having to remove my tank often recently trying to chase down a ghost short. Keith

Thanks!

Here is my solution. I only managed to put one quick release (it's all I had laying around) so far. Planning on putting one on the return hose as well. The plastic works for me. I've had one on the Seca for over a year with no leaks.
