I picked up a complete k1100 side stand at the boneyard a couple of weekends ago. It was all there but there was a significant wobble in the side stand.
I don't think the unit had been greased or lubricated since the day it left the factory. The jaws of the side stand yoke were badly worn...
I decided I had nothing to loose by building them back up with a bit of welding and filing that flat again. (sorry the pics of the work-in-progress are too blurred) but the end result was a big improvement....
.
A bit of thread recutting with the tap and die set was needed after my ham fisted welding but it all came good. I will have to replace the bush and side stand bolt too in order to achieve the best result.
A bit of paint and a centre stand lock ( a lá Sidecar Paul's design) and she'll be right!
The scrapper had removed the side stand by the time I got to collect the bits from him so I didn't get to see and photo how all the plates and springs go together. Does any one have a photo or diagram of the k1100 side stand assembly?
Thanks in anticipation.
