Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has a recomendation (available in the UK) for a dial gauge extension that is'nt BMW part no. 00 2 580. Have looked at a few online but fear they would not have the reach required.

Any comments gratefully received.

Hi Rene, Clymer manual states BMW part No. 00 2 580 for the dial gauge extension to identify TDC (page 68) . I have looked at similar products on line but they look to short to get to the spark plug as the recess is quite deep.

Got you. I'm looking into the same thing, ordered an extendion for deep seated spark plugs (for a compresion tester) and will modify that to take a micrometer and a long pin (probably a tig rod):pirat:

The part number 00-2-580 is the Cartool number (who make the BMW tools). I have one in the UK BMW Club's Tool Hire Facility. Unfortunately, I don't have the equivalent 11 digit BMW part number for that item.

We visit friends who live in the Forest Of Dean, so I could bring it down down next time and you could check it out and perhaps have one made?

That's kind of you Mike. We are in the Forest (Lydney). We always have the kettle on. Let me know when your next in these parts.

Well Lydney is just down the road from where our friends are in Bream, so no problem with checking the timing. For the price of a tea/coffee I'll bring the DTI and timing box as well.

PM your details and I'm sure we can sort something out.

There is a guy in the BMW club with a K1300 who lives in Sling, who I may be visiting him as well, as he has been using the Club's GS-911 Diagnostic tool (duff ABS)

Mike, great stuff. I'm a member as well, but never thought about asking for it....... Rolling Eyes

Could someone please take some pictures?

I got an idea of what's needed, but some pictures always help with the realisation.

Cheers, Rene

I will be out all day today, but will try to post some pictures tomorrow.

ReneZ, as you are a BMW Club member, I could send it up to you.

I wasn't able to take any photo's as Rene asked me to send him the 00-2-580 plus a few other tools so they are boxed up ready to post.

If we ask nicely, maybe Rene will take a few photos of then tool in action (so to speak!)
