Standard shockie, correct mounted, adjusting screw is for rebound damping.

So "S" is for softer and "H" is for harder?

Hi Guys,
Well I found the origin of my confusion in the original handbook. It seems to confirm that the shock on my bike is upside down!
The handbook is for the K1 and K100RS 16 valve. It seems you adjust the K1 at the bottom and the K100 at the top
This is repeated in the diagram below
K1 above; K100RS below
So I suppose it must be right - baffling though?!
Best
Dave

May be on K1 is just mounted upside down to easy access, I'm not so sure...
I mentioned that shock absorber is changed in August 1991 /exact month of my bike birth day /
Any ideas from someone with more experience?
Actually is it matter how it is mounted?

Actually Tony, I think you are probably right with the K1 needing access to the adjuster; but being mounted as Dave's, with the adjustment at the top, does reduce the 'unsprung weight' so theoretically, that should be the better option.

K1 got a different part# than the two to fit the RS.
As TK mention it was a change in 08/91, when it was changed to Showa.
The later one is similar to the one fitted on the K11, which is the same as shown in the pictures (the earlier model didn`t have any adjustement for the damping).
