Motorcycle Electrical Systems - Trouble shooting and repair.

I found the book very informative.
Features the K-series of bike (Mass airflow sensor, relays, Hall sensor)
Basic electrical laws, testing sequences etc.
Very understandable and helpful for the lay (non-electrical) person.
Well worth the money for me.

So let me carry on a little with regards to this book...

I now know that a relay is just a remote switch for heavier current. This allows for a switch on your handlebar (for example) to carry less current and lighter gauge wiring.
Your handlebar switch operates the relay (switch) which turns on the appliance.

I want to test my radiator fan.

I could take off the fairing, airbox and then radiator to get to the fan to put 12volts across its contacts to check the fan OR

I could lift the tank slightly and get to the relay box and put a wire across the contact points for the fan relay.

Option 'B' takes a fraction of the time and also takes the relay out of the loop.

So if the fan works now, but doesn't during a hot day, maybe I have a relay problem.
