Thanks for the welcome!
Guyra is a lovely place and I think its already 10 or 11 degrees today. When its 40C down in Tamworth and they are so miserable they feel compelled to listen to both kinds of music, its only 30 here and I am catching lovely trout by a cool stream. And of course, whenever you jump on your bike in Guyra, you can be assured that ANYWHERE else is warmer....unless you go through Charlotte's pass. Or Blayney.

Rick, I often do rides around here...up to Glen and across to Inverell and home via Bundarra etc, so you've probably seen my bike around the place. Over to Walcha and home via Bendemeer etc.Up to Wallangara for a cup of tea and home again. Its good bike country here...though some of the roads are goat tracks. I broke a fairing mount over easter riding on the Ebor rd.
Sean,.

Saxon, I have lived in Tamworth and Armidale and often they would refer to Guyra as the home of the spud. Is that still the case?

It's the home of the Super Spuds rugby league team, and the lamb and potato festival. So much potential! So many old codgers refusing to move with the times......!

I note with interest the crackdown recently on "gangs " and "bikies" in Qld and NSW. Will it be ok for us to show our "colours" in downtown Boonah and uptown Esk?
I do believe some , if not all of us will be carrying drugs...arthritis, blood pressure etc.. One of the party has already indicated that he has a gold g string in his pannier....we are setting ourselves up for a big bust.
Any long term weather predictions for next week?

If it's a young cop that puls you up for a search tell them you have some viagra and OH WOW DOESN"T IT WORK GOOD YOU ORTA TRY IT, they will die from embarasment and just get grossed out at the thought and off you go  I have done it and the older cops standing around were near rolling on the ground laughing while the young one went very red. Me and the rest of the guys didn't stop laughing for a week.

That's a bummer, Col. Reminds me of that ol' country & western song, "Take this job and shove it". I know the feeling. But my favourite is Todd Rundgren's "I don't want to work, I just want to bang on the drum all day." from his 1983 'The Ever Popular Tortured Artist' record.

The extended forecast going into the weekend and beyond in SE Queensland is for lows of about 10/11c (about 50f) with light morning fog in some areas, and daytime highs of 25/26c, possibly reaching 28c (low 80s f) in Esk on Saturday arvo. Not bad, not bad at all.

sunny

RT has not had a good start to the trip, in fact it was shocking. On the way to Denman his shocking, sad shock stuffed. Oil formed a slippery, slimy film on his rear tyre after it decided to die. At 9 pm last night he was safe in a pub in Denman.
Rickmeister, on his steady steed will go into Newcastle (as this writing is being writ) and he has secured a sound second shock for RT.
Hopefully we will be only about an hour later then we planned for. See you tomorrow.

Fair play Charlie. Thanks for that, gives those of us "out foreign" a better idea of what going on. Looks like some nice twisteys. Good curves and safe riding every body.

I find myself with a sunny day ahead, 'cause I don't have to go in to work today or tomorrow; nope, got an early mark from the boss with my walking papers, but no gold star, not even a Hero of Soviet Labour Award - a slap on the back for a job well done, comrade!

I've just a few things to get done to the Mighty K. A loose seat hinge where a contained nut broke off causing a rattle and misalignment at the hinges, and a burnt out globe - it's the little things that drive you nuts! The odometre rolled over to 100,000 kilometres on Thursday night (actual mileage about 140,000 kms) on the way home, and these basic little maintenance items are my reward. Smile At least I'm not having to alignbore the camshaft flanges, reconfigure the gyrospectrum analyser, de-carbon the cylinder head, or Prussian Blue the main bearing journals!

This arvo I'll head down towards Boonah via Logan and Beaudesert. Prolly see you lot round oh, say, 0 dark beer thirty. The sun sets at 5.25PM round there these days. I expect to see the sun sink in sympathy with my frosty schooner of Toohey's Old amongst friends.

Charlie and Blakey, Friday arvo around Brown's Plains/Boronia Heights sounds like a commuter's home-for-the-weekend drive time madness to me. I think I'll sneak in the back bottom way from Logan Village on Camp Cable Road like we've done before, and if we time it right I'll roll onto highway 13 near Jimboomba as you thread your way through there. The roads will not be free of traffic but a whole helluva lot less than having to get onto and then off the Motorway from where I am. See ya's there or along the road roundabout the same time. Cheers.

Great to have you along Gith.

Panniers are full of stuff (some of it useful), bike washed and ready to go.

Yeah, OK, at the Jimboomba Shell just after 3PM. Be there or be square!

BTW, just rang the Aussie Hotel and there are still rooms left. I'm not bringing my panniers so I don't have to carry along any baggage!

Wink
