As it stands at the minute, there is a substantial number of Oz forummers. It would great, at some stage, to put some faces to the names, a few lagers, tell a few lies etc.... A K-Rallye, perhaps, at some mutally agreed upon location (preferrably a nice pub somewhere, Araluen perhaps??). Lets know and maybe the ball can start to be rolled.

Wow!! Araluen is in the S. Highlands of NSW, about 30Km SE of Braidwood on the road to Moruya. Its only a suggestion because its sort of half way between Brissy and Melbourne, and I stayed there one night. $35 a room, incredible location (Ahhh, the serenity!), motorcycle friendly publican.
There seems to be enough interest. So...a location and time of year needs to be sorted. A weekend? I'm fully not-working so any time will do. Open to suggestions. It will be cool this time of year. Maybe early spring?

im sure i can rustle up an overnight stay at my daughters place for several of us (sydney western suburbs liverpool ) and pickup with you more local to sydney for a sydney saturday morning leave ...

wouldnt it be cool if we could get 6-8 leaving sydney as a group ....(liverpool 8am) first stop macas at mittagong ....or where ever they sell good coffee or something ...you know time for a natter and some bonding ?...

Lads...been cogitating about this. I reckon, because the majority of respondents are from SE QLD, how about Urunga. It ticks a few boxes, mainly Beer, camping available across the road from the Ocean View pub. The boys from the North could get their jollies Mt Lindsey, Grafton, Nymboida, Dorrigo, Belligen to Urunga. Us from the South could get our jollies up Thunderbolts (Gloucester to Walcha), down the Oxley to Wauchope and then to Urunga.

The pub isn't too pricey, great location, weather should be a bit kinder.

Alternatively, The Pub with no Beer (misnomer, as it has got plenty of beer, its where Slim penned the words to his famous song.) at Taylors Arm, some 30Km SW of Macksville. It has a large lodging building, camping may be available on the grounds (need to confirm) but as I understand it, they have regular country music gigs their on weekends, and the stage is quite close to the lodging building...but with enough green ginger wine / beer it shouldn't be a problem.

The lads from the South...we could meet at a pre-arranged spot and ride up as a group. It would bee a longish ride from Canberra, but from Maitland you could do it comfortably in 4-5 hours.

Again, Araluen is a long way for an overnighter for the Northerners...maybe plan it for future sessions.

This gets better all the time. Urunga is only four hours away if the Pacific Highway is the route, add another hour or so for Waterfall Way via Nymboida. Bellingen is a good spot too, and only a few K's away. Dorrigo NP is where I was riding a coupla weeks ago and from where I posted a few pix here. Let's see a show of hands. I can do this. I don't need an excuse for a ride.

BTW, the BMW National Rally is somewhere on the Gold Coast Easter weekend. How did I miss it?

Urunga is a good choise and the Ocean view is $40 P/P with a light breaky chucked in for those up to it. The Publican is very bike friendly and last time there we had a fairly secure place round the back of the pub.

The seat on an LT is good. My LT is the only bike I have ever owned that doesn't give me a numb arse.

And August is out for me that is when I go on the "Adventure before dementure" ride.

Araluen WILL happen! The only reason for the Urunga location, is that it is a bit more accessible for our QLD brothers, and that there are more of them. Great piccy!

I think the McDonalds *ahem* 'Restaurants' in Goulburn, Queanbeyan and Batemans Bay would be more or less equidistant. All about 90 minutes ride away.

Guys, I used to sail all along Australia's coast and ended up with a real Sheila, all good. Looking at 1 to 1.5 years from now, so i'll butt out of this meeting post for now!!

That weekend sounds fine to me. Either Friday or Monday would be ok and I shall bring the Bride with the K75.

We need to get on with bookings at the pub as it can be busy on the weekends. Has anybody contacted the pub to find if that weekend is available.

so ,,,judging (at a guess) by rt and rick (grabau) ..sounds like every body is planning to get there about lunch saturday.... worst case by late afternoon ?

i figure its about 5.0 hours south of brissy about 5.5 hours north of sydney (from hornsby at least ) given that we follow the highway .

so theoretically it could be just a sleep over at urunga .

any plans on route out of brissy ?......
i still have a thought to do brissy, warwick, tenterfield, casino , grafton

or is it a good road glen-innes to grafton ...havent been down there in over 30 years....... so that could make it a 6+ hour journey

this being the case i would be leaving friday 11 ish and be stopping every couple of hundred ...and where pics present themselves ..then staying overnight friday and saturday

or are we up for direct to grafton the "waterfalls way" to dorrigo then urunga ? (6 hours perhaps)

I just rang the Urunga Ocean View Hotel and asked about accomodation for Sat 21st May and was told heaps available at the moment.

The Phone 02 6655 6221. I know that last time I stayed there we were 2 short of the booking and it was no problem so even if there is a chance you wont make it book anyway as you can always cancel.
It is $45 including a light breakfast and a big breaky can be ordered but I seem to remember that there had to be a few that wanted one for the cook to come in.
