Hi all,

Long time bike enthusiast who had to sell up after the kids were born, then lost everything the divorce, and now living a damn good life in the land down under, the great brown, Australia.

After owning a few different bikes over the years, and nearly five years on a 125cc scooter in Taiwan, I found myself yearning for the open roads here in the this wonderful country, and to that end I purchased a 1984 BMW K100RS.

When I was a broke kid, I used to drool over these bikes, and now I'm older (wiser?) I've finally got my hands around a set of grips again, the only problem being she's got a few gremlins and I won't actually be able to ride her until she's 100% back to the land of the living.

Stay tuned for the work in progress...

Been there, done that. Well didn't lose everything...I ended up with $5,000 cash settlement. What's a 22 year old to do?

Yep, hit the nearest Ducati dealer and buy a 900S2 with Conti pipes and ride past the ex missus's house at 2 in the morning at full blast!
Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Welcome to the forum and we're here to help.

I didn't have the money to do that, so I stood outside the back fence of my ex's boyfriend's house, where her birthday BBQ was taking place, and pissed all over the inside of his freshly restored mini. Seemed like a good idea at the time, only it sort of tickled the funny bone so much I could barely pee straight, and this wasn't helped by the fact I'd drunk nearly my own body weight in Guinness.

Well, it is said that wisdom is not the prerogative of youth. What you can't fight and what you can't change, often a good piss up (or piss on) will cure.

Wow, a 125cc scooter in Taiwan. I bet you've got some great stories to tell! Welcome aboard and hope to see your progress in the resto forum.

Never underestimate the power of a "waigaren" (foreigner) on two wheels in the land that time forgot.

On, let's say more than several occasions, I was pulled over for going as fast as my long flogged scooter would carry me down city streets (often slightly the worse for wear after World Cup pub sessions with piles of other foreigners). Having been stopped by the, relatively short, arm of local law, I then proceeded to babble on in a mixture of cockney slang (yup, I'm a London lad), bad Chinese, secondary school French and the most disgusting German I could conjure, and was always "let off" with a warning.

Nothing brings you closer to life, than the frequent near death experiences of riding a scooter at very high speed wearing flip-flops, shorts and a "brain bucket", in the piping heat, oppressive humidity, stifling pollution, whilst whipping in and out of traffic that obeys no law!
