Hi all

Having installed a front end from a GSXR it meant that I needed to relocate the rather large ignition barrel but having looked at various locations I ‘thought’ it would be simpler to remove it and fit the Motogadget M-lock instead.

The long term plan is to install a full motogadget set up but that’s version 2 of my bike.

Now the m-lock itself is pretty straight forward having looked over the installation instructions but I’m unsure how to connect it to the existing ignition loom due to the other wires present.

I do have the Clymer owners maintenance manual and I have gone through the wiring diagram a few times but my issue is the Relief Relay

The ignition has the following

Red = constant 12v
Violet = not used
Green = relief relay
Grey/blue = lights for coolant/ fuel gauge
Grey = fuse box

Now having also purchased the mlock wiring harness (wires and relay holder) it leave me with only 3 wires

Red = constant
Black = ground
Red 12v switched

Now I’m not an auto electrician so I’m making an assumption at this stage that

I can connect the 2 constants together

Black/Ground goes to the frame

Then I join GREEN & Grey/blue together and connect to the Red 12v switch on the mlock harness

That leaves me with GREY that goes the the fuse box, am I ok to leave this out as the mlock has a built in 40amp fuse?

Thanks in advance for any advice

The m-unit has its own relief/load shedding function, according to this description in the instruction, so it looks like you can eliminate that relay entirely.

Thanks for the reply, however at this stage I’m keeping the original Orem wiring loom (will fit the m unit next year) so I’m just using the M lock with the Oem loom at this stage.

Ok ive fitted the mlock and to some degree it’s working. It turns the bike on and off.

However there’s no rear lights now and it’s down to the GREY wire

If I connect it to the switched 12v the rear lights come on permanently and the light switch has now effect.

Any ideas how to bypass this?
Thanks

Yes.
Use OEM device.
It works.
