Jacko had a set of Type 1 panniers that he didn't want so Dan stepped in to save them. However he didn't want them so I stepped in to save them. However I didn't really want them but I thought I could find them a home. I gave them to SSD who was going to adapt them to fit his R100. SSD after a fair bit of fettling to get them to fit decided not to continue. In steps Matt who acquired them yesterday off SSD. Matt is going to forward them on to Grumpy  who was chasing a set. So after playing pass the parcel six times they are now heading to a home in Canberra.

BTW, these panniers fit Monolever Airheads (on a Zed frame) as well.

SSD's R100 is a twin shock. Snow got cheezed off with the Kronies and did a runner with The Big Bad Wolf. She preferred Hardleys to Bricks. But no matter how much he huffed and puffed BBW couldn't blow away a Brick.

An equally strange story of things going away and then returning happened to me a long, long time ago. I was fresh out of uni in about 1982 and unable to make a decent living from my chosen degree, so I got a job as a parts driver at the local VW BMW Subaru FIAT workshop. We had a strong wholesale business providing area workshop and body shops (panel beaters) with spares. I loaded my VW Pickup (a Golf/Rabbit variant) and drove to the local body shop and unloaded, leaving the tailgate down as I left, the newbie that I was. At the next traffic light was a railway level crossing that wasn't so level. When I arrived at the auto repair workshop 
to unload the full case of NGK BP6ES sparkplugs (200 pieces) they'd ordered they were nowhere to be seen. Sh*tting my young self I retraced my route across town to no avail. I returned to the dealership and the parts manager listened to my story with some measure of disbelief. Somehow I managed to keep my job. Fast forward a dozen years and I'm the parts manager (so much for the degree) at the local Chrysler dealership. I needed some sparkies for my R75/7 and Chrysler had no use for that part number in any of their products - or at least we didn't have any of them on the shelf. They happened to be BP6ES equivalents. One of the old-timer mechanics named Stu, was waiting for his pile of parts for a car he had on his lift and overheard our conversation, stating he had some leftover NGKs from a strange find out on the road in front of the body shop he once worked in, and that I could have them for a dollar a plug. Silence. I was gobsmacked as he explained how he was on his way to lunch one day and spotted a split open case of NGK sparkies right at the edge of the roadside. He stopped and grabbed 'em, the bugger. Here we were years later and he's the one who'd found them. They'd come full circle. Mystery solved. I bought the lot. I reckon I still have a few left back in the shed in OZ where that bike is kept. When I return in October if anyone needs a  coupla BP6ES I am certain I can spare a few. Free, just for having the patience to read my story.

Back in about 1980 a very close schoolfriend gave me an album that I'd got very fond of and couldn't afford to buy a copy (Barclay James Harvest - 'Early Morning Onwards' if you really want to know). She'd marked the cover with her initials in blue biro. I abruptly lost contact with her (I have no idea what happened) which made the album more precious. At some point the inner sleeve got so worn that, like so many people, I had to tape it up. A couple of years later it was stolen, along with a number of other albums. 

Fast forward five or so years to my 28th (??) birthday. Another friend handed me a birthday present saying 'I know you like Barclay James Harvest and I found this in a s/h record shop in X'. I was as grateful as all hell when I found it was a copy of 'Early Morning Onwards'. I slid the record out of the sleeve and stopped cold. 'I recognise that piece of sellotape' I thought, 'but it can't be'. I turned the cover over and there was a small black Sharpie mark top-centre. By this time I was pretty much in utter disbelief. I carefully removed the black Sharpie mark with cloth dabbed with meths and although the meths lifted the biro ink too, when held up to the light the depressions outlining my schoolfriend's initials were/are clearly visible.

Yes, I still have it. Miraculously the record itself was almost undamaged.

So when are you planning on returning the album to its original owner, Dai?  Our planet will be slightly out of kilter until you do.  Karma and all that..........  

You know she will still be cranky with you when you locate her on FB and it will still be all your fault.
