Some years ago I rode a K75C. I had owned a black '02 K1200RS earlier, but this was my first 'original' Brick. I only had it for a summer, but what a long, hot, enjoyable summer it was. We rode all over Washington state together, with nary a problem, not even a velocity award from the coppers. It was a sweet-running machine, as smooth as you need, a tourer, sportsbike, and offroad companion. These photos recently popped up to me on the website known as Shutterfly. I had forgotten I was a member there. There's a motherlode of photos contained there from my other rides on various Beemers over the years in Australia, the UK, and in North America, which includes Mexico. A pictorial of memories.

I might have to get me another K75 one day. Pop in a rack of three, 38mm K12 throttle bodies, a sweet-sounding slip-on exhaust, a paralever final drive & compatible gearbox, Marzocchi K11 forks, later wheels for running radial tyres, and four piston Brembos over larger diametre discs. Ah, a smooth, modern classic.

Ta, Dai. It's good to look back sometimes. Who said "We can't know where we're going unless we remember where we've been."?

BTW, cheap as I can be, I still own, to this day, that HJC full carbon helmet, the OZ Andystrapz courier bag, those vented gloves, and that BMW touring jacket, albeit, with some repairs done.

Here's a fairly thoughtful 'review' of the Brick, but specifically the K75, done by Canada's FortNine website about 5 months ago. Some will argue a few of the points made, no doubt, but overall it's a pretty good story about BMW and previous marketing/engineering methods they used. It can be said that those days are truly dead. Witness 215hp M1000RR engines, Chinese-built parallel twins, Indian-built singles, and six cylinder luxo-barges. Common parts between models might be a crush washer or oil filter nowadays.

not sure about the tail light as it was just lying around , the seat was ok  and a lot better than my british hard tails at the time , but i was a lot younger and skint

Glad you enjoyed it. Winter inspires memories. It's been between 10F (-12C) & 20F (-6C) here for daze and daze now with a threat of snow that never really materialised. It is finally above freezing today, with some cold sunshine, before a week of rain, but 50F arrives! That sounds like heaven for a change, but one does yearn for warmer times. I am Baja bound on the 8th or 9th of February for two and a half weeks of riding. Roll on springtime.

I can relate - here in southeast Wisconsin we've been below 0F for most of the last several days. Plus we had about 10" of snow just before the temps plunged. I'm alrady tired of winter! 

It's back above freezing today, with a soft, cold rain falling steadily. 100%, say the weather seers. By the weekend it'll be 10c/50f again. One benefit is that everything is green (and mossy, including my car which hasn't moved in two weeks) in the Pacific Northwet.

Thanks, mate. Some of us need a reminder of why we like to ride, now and again. I am currently fortunate to be able to ride 'most' of the year, where I am living. Recently stumbling upon an archive of my travel photos online, and the memories contained there, has given added impetus to get a move on as regards riding this coming warmer season. Much to see and do. Much to do and see.

I sure do miss the beauty of the "Great Northwest!" The summers were worth the rainy winters.

And the winters are shorter, the summers longer and drier, and neither are quite as rainy, bar this winter so far.
