Thanks TWB…I enjoyed your ride and eloquent style of writing. Glad it was a successful, relatively trouble free and enjoyable road trip for you.

Thank you, BAE. I do manage to fit one word after another until it fills the space. With it, I hope an outline of a picture is painted for the mind's eye.

Motorcycling, and writing about it, is something I've been doing since my teens. I'm 64 now. It's been a diversion from the mundane.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

Point-Seven-five wrote:Reading your reports is rather bittersweet for me.  I had the chance to do a similar trip in 2022, but put it off to help my son work on his house.  The door has closed on any further touring now due to some health issues.  The lesson here is to never ever pass up the opportunity to jump on your bike and go.  You never know what the future will throw at you.
It's a place I recommend any rider from the rest of North America who needs a dose of third world, but with the usual amenities of comfort (food, fuel, accommodation) right close to home.
The worst part is that I could have done the trip with an acquaintance who rides the peninsula every couple years photographing the harbors along the Pacific coast.  He is intimately familiar with the area, has many contacts and speaks fluent Spanish. He also is an Iron Butt rider so is right on my wavelength as far as touring style(long days and high speed between stops).  He's in his 80's now so together with my situation, the opportunity to do the trip probably won't come again.

Hiya Bob! Good to see some of 'the originals' are still around, and glad you enjoyed the show.

The first several days now I'm back home the weather forecast has been ominous, with sideways rain, heavy mountain snow, ice, hail, and short but intense gusts of wind all round. Fortunately, there hasn't been any snow or ice sticking down in the valleys or along the Puget Sound of Western Washington state where I live. It's all up in the hills above a coupla thousand feet elevation. It's what I'd escaped early on in the month, and is a far cry from the relatively placid and mostly fine temperatures of the Baja peninsula.

Judging by the recent deaths of the two Aussie brothers and their American friend, out surfing and camping on the northwest coast of Baja California state, not far from where we stayed for a coupla nights, we, in our blissful turista ignorance, dodged the bullet they collectively didn't. I note the press are suddenly all about how unsafe the Baja is compared to the rest of the country, but my experience has been otherwise over the years I've visited south of the border; the mainland of Mexico is notorious for being in the press due to missing persons and shootings more so than the peninsula has traditionally been. What ever the statistics suggest, things are changing, and it's very sad and senseless.

RIP, Callum, Jake and Rhoad.
