Just wondering what tires you guys/gals are finding are still available for these bikes? I wish I could get my hands on another set of Conti Road Attack 3's. I got almost 10K miles on my rear before it ended up with a big flat spot-not many twisties in the prairies. There is probably a little more left in it, but..................... The front is still in great shape. I have resorted to my spare wheels with Michelin Pilot Activ's for next season.

If I need to, I can use 110 and 140 front and rear respectively, which would take me to an 80 in profile, correct?

It's true that a 110/80-18 & 140/80-17 are ideal and recommended updates to the original tyre sizes of your bike.

Many folks here use Pirelli's Sport Demon bias ply with good result. There are also very many who use a combination of brands/models in radial type. A quick search in the forum's search engine will reveal multiple threads about this very subject. I just typed in 'tire options' and came up with a page full. Have you had a look there? There's a lot of good info, and opinions, too.

I have used Bridgestone Battlax BT46 on all my Ks, 100/80 100/90 110/80 or 90 on front and 130/80 130/90 140/70 on the rears at various times. My rears are now all 140/70 and they fit with no problems.

38psi front 42psi rear.

I love them especially in the winter conditions. On the rear my tyre life has varied 5-13,000 miles and its really down to ridng style and time of year. The one I took off at 5,000 still had life in it but not enough for a 2,500 mile trip so it was replaced.

I have had good luck with Shinko Tourmasters and 712's on my bricks.  Tourmasters for stacking the miles chasing the horizon across the plains while the 712's work well in the twisties.

The price per mile on these tires is very good(9-10K miles $125 for a rear tire)and the performance in wet or dry is good as well.  I have run the Tourmasters in 125F in Death Valley and around the southwest as well as on wet roads and snow on the Canadian Plains, Northern States and New England.

Shinko tyres are quite good these days, as well as relatively inexpensive. They've been making Continental's storied (never mind the 'chunking lug' recall of a few years ago) TKC80 since it was released as an OEM on the first R1150GS-A model, circa 2003/4.

I'm using the radial Shinko Verge 016 2X on my K1300GT. It's not a Michelin or Metzeler, but it's well less than half their price, for a tyre that gives 3/4 the other brand's mileage. Bugger me if it feels any different on a curvy road or in the wet, and, I save dosh by mounting and balancing them myself.

I have recently fitted a pair of Pirelli Sport demons to my ancient (August 1983) K100 naked bike. They are absolutely brilliant. Good adhesion and directional stability (no tram-tracking) and, so far, good wear characteristics. Very happy.

I've run a few different brands over the years. I switched from Bridgestone BT 45 to Michelin Pilot Activ and found them a bit better. When Michelin Pilot Activs  were discontinued I switched to Michelin Road Classics which I love.
Regards Martin.

In Canada, I can only get a front tire in 100 or 110 in a Pirelli Sport Demon as the rears have been discontinued. It is looking like the only tires I will be able to get at all are the BT46's unless I venture south into the U.S. and see what is in stock there. Maybe there are some Michelin Pilot Activ's or Conti Road Attack 3's laying around somewhere with valid date codes still. HA!
