hi chaps,
i have a very badly built k100 1988 that has been badly cafe racered and i am in the process of sorting all the issues out wilth it. i am particulary interested in anyone who has down a rear wheel swap for either k1200 rims or 1150/R9t wheels as this is my starting point, once this problen is solved i can move forward with the reat of the build.
have just completed my spondon bandit and wanted another project to get my teeth into and really liked the look of the k100 cafe racer, i have access to some fantastic engineers and fabricators near me so nothing is off limits!!

Welcome from across the water. Spondon Bandit is something unusual, Spondon more normally associated elsewhere.

I will say welcome here but you should start a new thread for your build.

spondons not that unusual, theres a few about, they originally started making frames for TZ 250/350 and then later on frames for just about anything you could think of! and they are 5 miles from where i live, unfortunately they no longer exist due to the norton fiasco but spondon GIA is still up and running a bit further down the road. how do you go about posting up images?
thsnks again

yeah lovely thing the rob north frames, they had one in the motor vehicles department at university, someone there occasionally raced it, probably worth more than a spondon!

The R1100/1150 series rear wheels have a compatible stud pattern, but the disc is mounted on the wheel, rather than on the drive hub. The R series wheels therefore have more offset, since they are not made to be spaced away from the hub by the thickness of a disk sandwiched between them. This can be overcome very simply by using the R series wheel-mounted disc. They have a narrower track than the K series, so it is necessary to use a matching brake caliper. The caliper mounting holes are in the right place if you do this. I found that axial alignment was the only issue, and this was sorted by a combination of machining the disc mounting posts on the wheel, and making spacers for the caliper mountings. It's described somewhere on the thread for K7kforkurz.

I used a 5" rim with a 170/60 17 tyre and it sits almost central.

I've just realised that you've resurrected an old thread where I more or less said the same stuff. Good luck with your build!
