Hi Krew,
Apologies for the length of the post - go to last paragraph for those who want to get straight to the question. If you want the background and context, read on…
As my bike had been laid up for about a year and I was too lazy about starting it regularly with fresh fuel, I arrived at the point where a fuel tank clean was required. ( I was doing this at the same time as overhauling the rear brake calliper).
Did a fuel tank clean once before on a K75C that I saved from someone who left it even longer than I did, so I thought it would be fairly routine. Then the gremlins paid a visit. Has anyone tried to remove a fuel pump after one of the tabs on the plastic retaining ring breaks off? That job is out of the way now, so on to the current issue.
So with a cleaned fuel tank, new filter, fresh fuel and after draining the fuel rail, tried to start - just turns over. Cannot hear the fuel pump whirring, so decided it also needed to be replaced. Decant fuel, replace pump, try again.
Still won't start so sprayed some Aerostart into the air intake - eventually turned over and revved for a second or so. But without Aerostart it won't do anything.
Followed the troubleshooting guide - I have a spark and the fuel injection relay is OK. Battery was providing 12.9 volts (12.2 volts after trying to start many times, but I changed it anyway and the new battery was giving me 13.4 volts. Still nothing (unless I used the Aerostart) so I decided to take out the injectors and get them cleaned.
I used the wooden lever under the fuel rail method as described on the forum and almost got all 4 injectors out - except for the injector tip on No3. Photos attached.
Any tips on how to remove an injector tip?
