Hello. New member of the forum from Virginia, USA checking in to say ‘hello.’ I have a 1985 K100RS with very low miles. The low miles are perhaps a good thing but also can be a bad thing. I say that as the bike is in very nice/pristine cosmetic condition, consistent with the low miles, but I have worked on a few issues that I attribute to the lack of use/aging of parts. For example, I had to find a used fuel sending unit/petrol gauge (old style unit for the old tank) after I noticed a fuel leak through the wires (gasket was fine, wires were leaking fuel). Finding that old sending unit was like finding a unicorn but I got lucky and have the replacement part installed and it's working fine now. I repaired the old one with Permatex to keep as an emergency spare. Now I have a bit of a surge at lower RPMs that I’m trying to resolve which brought me to this forum and its archives.
I look forward to reading past discussions and starting a few new ones. Been riding airhead BMWs since 1991 but I am far from an expert at anything on the K bikes. My other bikes are carbed and stone simple by comparison. I must say, I do love the lines on this bike. From my perspective, it is a timeless beauty that I hope to have for many years! Cheers!
