Looking good Charlie. You need a blue one and then you can do a patriotic red, white and blue display.
Regards Martin.

back again with more work on the "red" bike

been pretty cool around here last few weeks , with max temps around 8 c  and minimums of about 2c ...yes wet easterly winds and rain

so pulled the instrument cluster off , with the intentions of fixing the trip meter

the fault was that when resetting it would only mesh with 10s units ...making setting back to zero , rather tedious

no real issues there as i had a spare unit in the library , and only 2 screws fix the mechanism to the odometer part

then whilst there resolved a couple of night illumination lamp issues , the main issue was the bulb holders spring metal had diminished making intermittent contact with the film circuit board ,
issue sorted , Plus changed the globes from green leds to white ones , adding an additional led behind the 60-80 klm region of the speedo

then thought , why dont i solve that gear  indicator lcd issue , being that it had faded to nothing .

i replaced the oscilator chip on the gpi board , hoping that the oscillator driver had failed ...no go ...so resolved that the lcd had just leaked away to nothing .

ah ha .... 0.4 inch 7 segment  led indicator purchased  and did the mods for installing it through the circuit board , with a backing pcb for termination .

worked out quite well , but had to route connections around the backing support bracketry under the board

It's amazing what gets piled into a lunchbox!

I guess when I bought those LED backlights (one of Duck's kits) I was going for a softer light. These daze, with my diminished eyes, I'd likely choose brighter.

It's good to see details sorted.

It's cooler here this week but has been near 38° a few times. On the way to Colorado last month it was 40° on more than two or three days. Cheers, and stay warm.

*I might see you in October.
