‘87 RT with 140,000 miles. Works great. So why am I writing? I’m scooting down the highway at 70 mph and each time I initiate a lane change and press either the left or right turn indicator switch the engine misses a beat; like a millisecond. It doesn’t matter if I hold the turn indicator or just ‘stab’ it. Cancelling the said action does not affect the engine. In fact nothing causes the engine to cut out except pressing either turn indicator. I was able to repeat this several times over the course of an hour of highway riding.
Now... when initiating a lane change at 65 mph (or slower), there is no momentary cutting out (and when I say ‘cutting out’, I am talking a very, very brief lapse of spark.
The way I figure it is there is something electrical going on or the bike just doesn’t want me to use the turn indicators at 70 mph.
Any ideas?
