Does anyone know if the 16v engine just bolts straight into the first gen. frame?

Goat - yes, essentially ALL the engines interchange. The later 1100 frames have a thicker top tube and a couple of braces under the tank.

A mate of mine from the Tacoma, Washington area swapped a K1100 motor complete into his resto K1 project several years ago, even using the later style wheels/tyres and all of the electronics. It was literally a bolt-up affair except for a few fabbed spacers for the wheels/brakes. The untrained eye would never know, and it goes like it looks, subjectively.

BTW K1 or K100 RS 16V engine doesn't matter, it's the same thing, isn't it...

You can even fit a 1200, will find link later-need 1200 sparks though
