That brings back memories.....to the 70s, had a Honda CB500-4 and cracked as in broke the cast alloy sump one Saturday taking it to places it hadn't been designed to go, off road. Got it home as anon runner and no engine damage. Took sump off, cleaned all up, cleaned all the pieces, Araldited it back together, into the mother's oven and put it back on. Fresh oil, rode Sunday, Monday headed to town and picked up a new one. Amazing stuff that Araldite.
More recently some cars starting to use plastic sumps and specify a torque setting. All good, until after 12 months glued in place you need double the torque to unlock the sump plug....and snap.
