That brings back memories.....to the 70s, had a Honda CB500-4 and cracked as in broke the cast alloy sump one Saturday taking it to places it hadn't been designed to go, off road. Got it home as anon runner and no engine damage. Took sump off, cleaned all up, cleaned all the pieces, Araldited it back together, into the mother's oven and put it back on. Fresh oil, rode Sunday, Monday headed to town and picked up a new one. Amazing stuff that Araldite.

More recently some cars starting to use plastic sumps and specify a torque setting. All good, until after 12 months glued in place you need double the torque to unlock the sump plug....and snap.

I knew someone who used that stuff as well, but he called it Ardalite, he also spoke about ternamals and hostipals ... and of course archytechs. Ardalite  was his fix for everything

Honda CJ250.... cam chain got loose and slapped a chunk out of the cylinder head (not my bike). As a temporary fix, we built the bolloxed area back up with araldite until my mate could afford a s/h one.

Twelve years and 80,000+ miles later the repair was still there.

I would give that another 1/4 turn just to be sure 

LOVE ARALDITE. it's got me home on several occasions. Think that case might need replacing though. 
I have discovered 2pak metal putty since though, I used it to repair a cooling manifold on a Volvo diesel worked well for me. Don't know about the new boat owner though.

Many years ago I was travelling on an early goldwing when a car pulled out in front of me in Dubbo NSW. Result was a large dent in his door and a holed rocker cover on the wing.

Strips of araldite soaked cloth fixed that and lasted several months until I got a replacement in Perth. Good stuff that araldite.

I've used araldite to stick back broken chainsaw air fins that spin at 7000rpm. Still good now, twenty years later.
