Hi

I have a 1990 k100 4V with the double joint rear swingarm.
Can i convert it to the rigide swingarm easily? What parts needed for the conversion?

Resin i want to Switch it because i want to convert it to the horizontal mounted shock als Lourenco and it days that the rigid swingarm should be used.

Yes.

You need a monolever swing arm, final drive and drive shaft. (And a different shock.) The swing arm and drive shaft will work with your existing transmission without modification.

You need to figure out what final drive gear ratio you want. 32:10 from a K75 or 33:11, 32:11, 31:11 from a K100.

If you are getting the Monolever final drive and the drive shaft from different places, make sure they are either both 16 spline or 20 spline as they are not interchangeable. Either will work with yours but they need to match each other. The 16 spline are on early Ks [K, K100RS and K100RT].....K100LT are all 20 spline.

I just had a quick look at my K100RS [monolever] and my K1100LT [Paralever] just check out the rear brake line from the caliper to the master cylinder. Mine are not same but the RS one was changed by the PO so not sure if the difference is due to him or BMW.

Get the 16 spline setup if you can. The splines wear less. It doesn't come in black though like some of the 20s do.

Can i choose if i use 16 or 20 spline? Ist it relaxed to the gearbox Outputs schafft?

All transmissions have the same output splines.

16 or 20 is the number of splines where the drive shaft connects to the final drive.

Well a few months ago a new member started a thread with his build project - which was going to use one of those horizontal shock conversions, on a paralever swingarm. I did ask whether it would be suitable, but he didn't respond. There's some picture on the thread which show it installed, but the thread seems to have died with no reports of it being finished.

I also tried to contact retrorides Who made the horizontal damper System directly but also got no response.

I was quite curious, because I'd only ever seen pictures of the Retrorides/Laurenco conversion fitted to a monolever, and it was my understanding that the paralever bevel box (and hence bottom shock mounting) moved in a completely different trajectory from the monolever. 
I even went as far as taking the shock off the paralever rear on my project bike, and measuring the distance from the shock bottom mounting to a fixed point on the frame, near to where the Retrorides linkage mount seems to be. I was quite surprised because I expected it to remain more or less constant throughout the range of suspension movement (hey, it's a para lever) but, the distance does reduce a fair bit as the suspension travels upwards, but not as much as it does on a monolever. Hence, the retrorides linkage thing would maybe stand a chance of working with a carefully chosen (i.e heavy rate) spring on the shocker.

If you can't get to the bottom of this, I'll re-measure the comparison between paralever and monolever. It's interesting.

I will take the spring off my paralever this weekend to measure. Would be great if you could measure again on the monolever. The Retrorides pictures state that the distance from the frame bolt to the bolt where the bellcrank is attached should be 109mm. So if we measure to 100mm from the Frame bolt we can compare the measurements.
I think suspension travel al the way down and all the way up should be comparable.

A paralever is 37mm longer than a monolever.

Hmm....maybe that's why the project in the link was stopped.

But it was hoocked up allready.
I need to check how the paralever is moving and resemble that in CAD and then see what it does with the retrorides parts.

i found some Pictures of the retrorides kit fitted to a paralever as well.
also got the confirmation from a shop that sells the retrorides kit that it will fit the paralever as well.
we will see and i keep you updatetd

I've seen some pictures too, a couple of bikes. They seem to have the swingarm almost horizontal, and the shock springs seem quite heavy. Hard to really tell from pictures though.
Also, there's lots of pictures of 'specials' out there in internet land, that might not really be ridden, or even look unrideable i.e no working brakes etc. 
Saw a lovely R1150 series custom at a bike show last year: Ohlins forks and rear suspension, lots and lots of expensive parts. Really took my eye. 
No wiring loom whatsoever. 
Absolutely not saying the paralever can't be done though.
