This morning, the bike sadly looked like this (A dust of snow was covering it):


This afternoon the temperature climbed to 4 degrees and I decided to go for a short ride.
At one point I stopped for a hot coffee and the only bikes in the parking lot of this bikers hangout were BMW K bikes. Normally you can see 50 Harleys sitting there. These Harleys are not cafe racers, but their riders sure are.

Cold here also. Yesterday morning it was not the bike that was white, but the road...but no choice, 30 minutes to go to work with my K11, or 1h30 by car...

That's my choice too, except that it's 50 minutes by bike or 1hr 30 by car (25 miles / 40 Km). Warm yesterday (10C) but cold today (about 5C).

[Edit] ... but I've just checked the Met Office and the temperature is due to rise back to 9C in the next hour or two!

but I live in a quite temperate part of the world .perhaps even tropical
notice the cooler temps up at smithys , some good 300 miles off  on top of the hills

Bert, I recall seeing pictures of your back garden under a metre of snow! Soon this will be repeated? When I arrived home late Saturday from California it was under 10C (under 50F) and stayed that way but with heavy rain. This morning I wake up to 16C (60F) and sunshine. One thing about living in the Pacific North West of the US is that you can ride (even when it's wet) just about every day of the year with a few exceptions.

I see you cafe racer friends have good choices in motorbikes! It's not a Tim Horton's you stop at, is it!? Timmy kept us fed at brekky time on the way through British Columbia to Alaska last year.

Timmy's, yes, I had the same thought.  A major part of Canadian culture, and a cause of traffic backups everywhere they are located here in upstate New York.  A bloody goldmine for the owners here, but then, we have a soft spot for the namesake as he was a favorite player for our NHL hockey team, the Buffalo Sabres, when he met his untimely end.  He was a true star of the game back when players didn't make much more than a guy working in a factory.

A shame that his partners screwed Tim's widow after he died and she was in dire need of funds.  As I recall, they bought his share of what was to become a multimillion dollar busines for something like $50,000.  Not many know that part of the company history, and it's the reason I won't do business with them.
