I was going to hold off starting a build thread but I can't contain myself as I start the slow progress of customizing my recently purchased bike.
It has all broken fairings and a dead battery, have no idea how long it's been since it was last moving along the road!

So, purchased a K1200 rear wheel for it, painted both wheels and fitted them today so I can roll it back to my house as it's been in storage the last 2 months at a mates house.
I've also had the clip ons and new headlight turn up.
I know the front brakes and front forks look a mess at the moment but they'll be done as the project moves along.

I have put a new battery in it and it is also running now which obviously makes me happy

Thanks for looking, and thanks in advance for advice I'll be taking on board as I go along this build

IMO there isn't an "easy" way to put wire wheels on the K100. I've just converted mine - just fitted the wheels & brakes; brake lines not yet done and then it still has to be tested. But I thought I'd share some ideas that may be useful

The 1150 G/S wheel I bought fitted straight on. I was able to use the regular K100 spindle. I made spacers to get it to run so there's no fouling with the forks and used oil seals on both sides to keep some dirt out. Disks were laser cut using  a 1150 G/S disk as a template. I made the mounting bolts & spacers. I could not find suitable wavy washers, so it rattles a bit, but not much.

The K100 calipers are okay. I made adapter plates - the 1150 G/S disk is bigger than the K100.

The rear wheel was much more complicated. I obtained a used 1150 G/S Brembo calipers. The K100 calipers would foul with the spokes no matter how you position it. It is possible to use the old K100 disk, but then the rear wheel is positioned to far to the left. You need a bigger than standard 1150 G/S disk. Because of the diameter of the bevel drive housing the calipers mount in such a way that the brake pads don't fully engage with the smaller 1150 G/S disk. So I had one laser cut, 306mm diameter.

The calipers also required adapter plates. That was  a trial and error process. And I had to surface grind the mounting face of the calipers.

I'll post images at some stage and I have .dxf files for the rear disk & adapter plates if someone wants.

I've decided to make a change. I could not use the rear brake calipers because
a) The inside of the unit protrudes too far into the spokes.
b) The bottom of the calipers foul with the spoked wheel hub

However, having fitted a bigger disk, b) is no longer a factor. So I looked at a) again. I can use the K100 calipers if I remove a smidgen from the casing of the calipers in places.

I did removed some material from the top of the unit - all is working fine except the piston housing needs to be filed, just the upper edge of the circular housing.

Does anybody know the wall thickness?

I could open it up and measure, but if someone has an open one or link me to a cross section drawing of the unit, it would save me that
