Hi all , Jimmy here, I do not have the bike yet but think it should be in the garage by the end of this working week. Bought the bike from a friend who has had the bike on the ramp for a few months but has not had the time to get things done. I have taken it of his hand for a reasonable price and intend on it being my next winter project. Don't know what I intend on doing with it but might look at a café or scrambler style, TBC at a later date. The engine does run and the bike is in reasonable order throughout.

I am looking forwards to getting started and of course hope that all you experienced guys will keep me right when I hit the many (I am sure) brick walls.  My first K100 112350

Winter is so far away (up here), so do the basics (all fluids, check brake pads, check tyres and get a can of deOxit onto all those electrical connectors and earth points) and get her MoT'd. Then get out and ride as a Summer Project, you never know, you might find that you love her just the way she was designed. If the bike is in reasonable order throughout, then it seems a pity to condemn her to becoming a cafe hack.

All sorts of helpful advice on the portal page on what to do with your first K to help you on your way.

Like Duck says - stick some bike details into your signature box - model, age etc. and get some photos up.

Enjoy

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately the bike has been already hacked and had some mods done. I also need to rebuild bits of it and I have 3 other bikes that I am using just now so once I get back from my Euro tour which starts on the 29th of July I will have a look and buy the bits that I need and use it to keep me busy during the winter days that I cant get out.

She arrived today, sitting in the garage waiting on my new bike lift arriving then I will get stripping down and slowly but surely crack on with the project.

Olaf, reference the days I cant get out not really to do with anything other than the fact that I some times have to look after my 9 year old son as his mum works strange shift patterns (Police Surgeon). As I said, I have another 3 bikes one of which is my winter hack which lets me get out in all weathers. Watch this space for pics before I get started. What a Face

Well I don't count that as days we don't get out, kids are the best thing ever and a 9 year old can be a great helper with the jobs that need doing.....

I know what the medical world is like, since my son took it up I hardly see him, his days off and time off spent on courses and learning more and more and his bike doesn't get out much now. When he was 9 we were building bicycles together and going on cycle trips.

Lots of photos and that K will be a nice build too!

You're not kidding!

Actually, it is good to see a project bike in this sort of mess (no offence meant) rather than a pristine one that is about to get butchered. Good luck with the project.
