Much has happened since the last post....

Magda headed off to Cuba while I was in France but there has been a little behind the scenes conversation about the next Workshop Day when she is back which I believe will be soon unless tropical storms intervene.

Will is heading to France at the long weekend and will be missing both that weekend and the following weekend.

Would a Saturday in November work for us? Could be a nice meet up. Some alcoholic free mulled wine can be organised from my end so as not to have illegal side effects......

I recall we must refit water pump but that also needs time to cure so we can't do a test run on the day but we can attend to some other tasks.

Magda, back to you because my memory is a bit off:

Anything on brakes/brake pads? Fluid change? Pads?
Spline lube?
Radiator and fan? I recall something on the fan?.
Temperature sensor?
Fuel filter.

Well what can we say?

Many times of late Magda couldn't make meet ups because of study etc.

Then flu struck at Christmas and she missed our Christmas Brunch at Stradbally.

BUT today we get the best news....all that study and parking of bike was worth it.......she has posted up that she has her ACCA finally completed.......

CONGATULATIONS.

Hello All!

Please accept my sincere apologies for being lousy with replies. I had to take some time off after finishing my exams. The last bits were a bit hard. Thank you for all warm words and all the congrats. I am done with studying for now! Laughing

In the meantime I have also changed jobs and we bought a house in Holguin, Cuba (hopefully soon the local law will change and we'll be able to open a B&B over there - then happy days, you are all welcome!!).

At the same time our lovely house in here is undergoing a major renovation and since February we don't have a kitchen or a dishwasher. Hopefully this will end soon. bounce

Having said all that I would like to come back to the topic of bringing my silver arrow back on the road.

I will list here the items we put on the list that still need to be bought / gathered / done. About the parts - before I go ahead and place an order with Motobins or another shop - If anyone has some of these in good condition lying around please let me know.

On some of the parts I have the letter "W" next to them which indicates W88 - Will, if you could say if you still have any of them, I will leave the "W" on the list.

What I put on the list during the last workshop:

- Seal kit for front brake master cylinder - is this what I am looking for? https://www.james-sherlock.co.uk/shop/k75-k100-k1100-k1200/brakes-336/master-cylinder-front-347/master-cylinder-repair-kit-1451-detail

- Crank case breather hose
- Clutch booth and clip (W?)
- Side stand pivot bolt / bush & Rubber cap (W)
- Rear brake pedal (W)
- Battery mounting bobbins & plates & screws, rubber
- Water pump impeller
- Fuel hose
- M5 allen bolts for sump (W) - how many?
- Clutch cable.

I will also get:

- 10 vacuum plugs
- lawn mower 35 Amp battery
- Bardahl silicone spray lube

I have already ordered the ignition coils (8V).

Ok, I think this is it for now.

So - once again - we still have some bzoovka left and having no kitchen will not stop us from preparing a lovely barbecue for the brave people who will come over to help!

Let's wait until the crew come back from France and set a date for putting the silver arrow back together.

Thank you all and see you on the road!

Welcome back!!!

Will,

I am generally free on weekends. I am still waiting for the cables though, just emailed the company today with a reminder (I ordered them 10 days ago).

I also need to order the other parts. I only have the new battery for now.

If you could tell me if you have anything from the list apart from the water pump so that I can order the rest asap.

Thank you!

Hi Olaf, welcome back!!

Yes, there's still a hole in the tank, I will be talking to Will about it because it seems he hasn't painted his Ktank yet so we might swap.

I have a fuel filter but not fuel pump or any hoses. I need to order the fuel hose with other parts.

All,

Thanks to Will I have the water pump installed now and a red fuel tank Smile .

Today Jack connected the ignition cables and we will be reconnecting ignition coils to the electricity cables (we took a photo of how they were mounted but it was on Jack's old phone which is no longer operational so we'll just need to go trial and error I guess).

I also found the ignition coil cover after only 1,5 hours of searching Very Happy

Due to the search process garage is now more organised.

Tomorrow we are planning on changing the gasket on the engine cover and bolting the engine together. Hopefully we'll be able to fill it with oil and water.

I will keep you updated. bounce

The green cables go on the inner connectors (closest to the engine) of the coils, the connection with two cables on the front (cylinders 1 & 4) coil and the single one on the rear coil. The brown earth cables go on the next connections out, with the double wired one going on the rear coil, and the single on the front. The black and blue cables go on the outer connector (nearest to you) of the front coil, and the black and red cable goes on the outer connector of the rear (cylinders 2 & 3) coil.

I think my cable colours might have been changed during previous repairs but thanks a lot anyway, I really appreciate it!!!

The task for today is to make the fuel pump work or connect a different tank from the k75s.

Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Hello Again.

So - as advised by Will we connected the fuel pump straight to the battery - it worked.
But when we wanted to start the bike with the fuel pump connected through the battery it still did not want to start, there didn't seem to be any smell of fuel in the exhaust.

So - the fuel pump is working but it doesn't seem to give any fuel to the engine.

Why can that be?

We also checked all the fuses - they seem ok.

Please help. Do you have any ideas what else can be wrongly connected?

The bike has been standing for like two years now. I read in another forum that some fuel could have become gluey and may be blocking something. Do you think this could be the reason? If so - how to fix it?

Thank you in advance for all the answers.

scratch scratch scratch scratch Sad Sad Sad Sad

Do you see any fuel return in your tank?
If the fuel injectors are not opening but there is pressure on the line, you should see the petrol moving around in your tank. This is the first visual test to see if the pump deliver pressure.

Yes, the fuel is moving in the tank.

But only if we connect the pump directly.

If we try to use the cable it doesn't work.

aye ! indeed he does    giggles

sounds like the under seat computer to me …   is there corrosion noticed any where on the plugs under the tank ?

it might be worth checking that the injectors are actually being activated ...perhaps a test lamp or multimeter across one of the injector  plugs and attempt to start  and see if the test light flashes ?

but could be just as simple as the fi relay not operating … causing the fuel pump and under seat computer not to operate

the fi relay is driven by the ignition computer under the tank ...so worth pulling it off  and having a good session of cleaning and close inspection ?

good luck

All,

Thank you for the hints, we'll try them out during the week.

Olaf, this might also work.

When are you coming over?

Two documents may help you:
http://www.kforum-tech.com/Downloads/electrical/diagrams/interactive_diagrams.htm
(click on the tab "fuel pump")
and
http://www.kforum-tech.com/electrical/EFI/bike-wont-start-EN.htm
Which is a bit more technical but will help to find where the problem is.

It could be a simple as the connector at the gas tank. I would first check if there is power at the plug. These plugs are known to fail because of corrosion.
