I've just finished building a cafe racer with my son's.  On riding I've found a flat spot mid range.  I've looked into this and found the original wiring loom had a cornection between the ALT and rev counter and then down the the IGN ecu for the IGN advance and retard. 
I don't have a rev counter or this cornection. 
Can I 
1 cornect straight from B+ on my ALT to the IGN ecu so it came see engine speed 
OR
2 change the timing on the HALL pick up plate to get a happy medium as this bike is only to be used for shows and will only cover a few miles per year.
