A question on the difference between 8 and 16 valves....

I am looking at HT leads and coils. New coils for 8 valve are expensive....new coils for 16 valve are very much cheaper.

So, is it possible to swap out the HT leads, coils and plugs from an 8 valve and fit the 16 valve coils and leads?

I do have a spare coil set but looking at alternatives.

Can of worms Olaf!! Something about coil impedance being too low for the ECU and turning it into toast. Someone else will have the full story somewhere. Rick?

Thanks Dai...that's why I asked the question instead of just popping them in....some nice new ones for K1100 for about €50 each.

Bought brake pads Motobins £9 and wondering wow worth a try.

Next task is to fix the time clock and paint the rear of the frame but the problem with that is I like to do it on the patio and a weekend that's good for that is also good for camping.....

If you do go down that path you will need to use the whole kit, coil leads and the resistive plugs.
You will also need to use a wire wound resistor on each coil so as to match impedance to the ICU, otherwise it's foof and the final amplifier transistors will disappear in a cloud of blue smoke, then nothing will work.
The primary windings on a 8V coil are about 1 to 1.5 ohm higher resistance than the 16V coil so the resistor will need to be in that area. You will need a resistor for each coil and need to mount them where there is good cooling.
Many cars used this type of resistor to make starting easier by making the system a 9 volt system and leaving the resistor out of the circuit when starting to give a full 12 volts when cranking. Those resistors may be good for the job or at least to rewind and make your own.
I honestly wouldn't go down that path and just buy the original coils.
