after  a lifetime of  various bikes  , i have finally returned  to the K100, its  a basic model  built in january 1984   but not registered until 1985  , i am the 3rd owner  and the bike has covered just 4765 miles from new , and the mot certificates back this up,  the seat height is  just to high for me , so am looking for a low seat to make my bike  really usable.  i am  usually based in the cheshire area or the scottish borders   ---retired.

Welcome here, after all you found your way to a good K.
The mileage is realy low, could be some things to do.
Is the tank inside OK?

Does the bike run?
Any pictures?

Cheers from germany

Welcome! Good luck with the bike. If you are vigilant and patient, a low seat will appear. All I know about Cheshire I've learned from Lewis Carroll and Caught On CameraSmile Chocolate's photo of it is very compelling.

WelKome from an Aussie with a big gap, but in my case no bike for quite a while.

I had a similar problem with seat height, but rather than chase a low seat, had the existing one rebuilt by a specialist to a lower height in the padding, with more dense special foam.

He does mail order, freight and return but the cost to Oz may be a bit prohibitive!   affraid

Perhaps someone closer could advise you. Very Happy

Bill

A few little mods as I also have issues with seat heights.

I got a rear YSS shock that dropped the rear end a small bit.
My standard seat was re covered [it came off another 84RS] by its previous owner and is slightly lower.
Rear tyre go for 140/80 instead of 130/90. Its a 5mm drop.
Fork stanchions can be pulled up slightly and I believe up to about 15mm is available at the front end by doing this.

My LT was Comfort seat and it was tip toe when stopped, my RT gets both feet flat on the ground and definitely much easier to manage.
