Hi,
Am doing a bit of a cafe\custom job on my K100RS (16v). Fitting a round headlight and another dash, drag bars or clip on. The ignition key is housing is all wrong for what I am doing, far too high.
Will something off another BMW model fit?

Cheers

Because, as you know, the 16V models used a cast in ignition switch housing (that sits too high if you're customising and/or using clip-ons) you can machine it off and use one of the rubber mounted handlebar holes for its placement, instead. The electrical portion of the switch is the same between models and there's usually enough lead length that you can place it somewhere round the triple clamp. You'll be giving up your steering head lock and will have to find the 'mechanical' part of the ignition switch from a an earlier K as the 16V version is the bit that is too long inside that cast housing. I stayed with the cast piece and used ProTaper 'bars and their riser blocks (for the fat part of the 'bar) with the standard rubber mounts.

This image is the unfinished view. The Trail Tech Vapor dash will be encased a slim aluminium housing and slightly off-centre.

Trail Tech are a company based near Vancouver, Washington. Trail Tech  They've been making digital dashes for dirtbikes and such for yonks. I'm using their model called they call the 'Vapor' with the dash surround, eventually, so I can have a few idjut lights.

My Big Block's seat base in fibreglass (seat foam and covering made by another) was a custom one-off made by a mate in Tacoma, WA.
