Hi,
just looking for clues as to how to raise the upper housing.
Maybe I need to apply a bit more "umph" as it seems to be fairly well held down (maybe by loom), but I would like any guidance

Not sure how different it is from the K100 but on the K100 you don't raise the upper housing much, the air filter slides out and new one slides in.

Will/88 has become a recent expert on the K1100......got a very nice message from him last night that the had finally taken his 'new' K1100 out for a trial run and confirmed the city panniers are perfect for a Chinese take away!! He was sounding rather ecstatic after it all.

The "secret" on all Ks, not just 1100s, is that the rear (or left bike-wise) top of the air filter does not have a lip so when removing the air filter you just need to focus on getting the rear lifted enough to clear the rim of the bottom half of the air box.

If you have a replacement air filter on hand you can inspect that to see what I am talking about.
