Hi all

I took delivery of my K100 RS today and I am going through the various issues.

My ABS light is on and does not reset. I got the blink codes and it comes up with error code 7. I have confirmed that my ABS button works as I can hide the flashing warning for 5 minutes or so.

I get Error code 7 which relates to internal ECU fault. I wonder if there is anything I can do before sending it to this guy : http://bmwk10075abs1fix.web.fc2.com/ to repair?

Thanks all.

You could try a full brake flush. One of the common issues with all the ABS modules is that the fluid is not changed on a regular basis, thus the mechanisms can get corroded (have to say far more common on the i-ABS modules though).

Ensure the battery is fully charged.
My battery is on the way out. My lights flash on occasions if I have not ridden for a few days.
I ride the bike for ten minutes to get a bit of charge back, turn it off, at the key, then back on.

Mine also showed fault seven when tested.

Good luck

Its had a brand new motobatt battery (which I love) by the dealer. He also replaced the alternator as the old one had failed.

I will leave the battery on charge overnight just to be sure however.

I had one of those last year and was too busy at work so got someone to do it for me. All sorted and the master cylinder failed not so long after due to all the bleeding. This has been my experience over many years with brakes, a bleed operation on an older system wrecks the seals inside the master cylinder due to the wear ridge and pumping. You can get a kit for this and if it hasn't been done recently I would do it at same time and make sure to renew the o ring under the reservoir. I had asked the guy who was doing my brakes to do it at same time but he insisted it was ok...he did it 2 months later.

Yours has ABS and the procedure is a bit different.

Keep trying the reset I heard of one guy who got it to reset on the 304th try. I would not have the patience for that and would have disassembled it with a shot gun after the tenth go.

I have spare ABS 1.5 Brain( two actually!)  after my system failed, read my thread in the transmission section.
Tosi states 7 flashes could be either front or rear modulator , battery or brain. In my case it was the front modulator.
If you want to try my spare brain, then let me know, cover the parcel cost  and I will send it to you, I am in Nottinghamshire.

Thanks audibob!

Mines is an ABO2.5 brain unfortunately, I'm not sure if they are interchangeable.

I have had the battery on charge overnight so will give it another go today just to be double sure its not a battery fault. I don't hear the mosquito sound on start up that he describes on his website though which doesn't fill me with confidence.

I am not sure whether mine can be used to check yours, hopefully someone on here will know. If it is, then the offer stands. On the " mossy noise " from the modulators, I have never heard that on my current k or my previous bike. Try and check the resistance values from your modulators via the 25 pin plug . My front unit showed one reading much lower than the other two, which subsequently proved itself when I swapped it for another modulator which gave higher readings on all three values than my faulty unit.

They can be made to work but aren't a direct swap.
