I hadn't seen the post before.rosskko wrote:Not sure if you ever saw THIS post BAE, but this is what you got for a week. Or something very close to this, but probably not quite the same, but similar.
Lots of the photos have gone missing, but enough there to give you a clue.

Just checked out the long range forecast and it's looking as good as a really good English summer (22-25 deg C with a chance of rain). Fantastic!
Rosskko has pulled out the stops and done me proud and is lending me his RT for the week. My intention is to do the weekend ride with the Krew, as expertly planned by Gaz, and I look forward to meeting and riding with many of the Krew on the way. I am so pleased that so many of you are giving up your time to be there.
Blessed with a bike for the whole week, I am also planning to do some after work rides - fairly local to Sydney as daylight hours will be quite short.
Monday 18th, I am looking at riding north up to West Head, coming back via Whale beach and Manly beach - riding across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge will be quite something (the younger but much bigger brother of the Tyne Bridge at Newcastle upon Tyne, up in the NE of England, which I crossed many times during my formative years at University there back in the early 80's).
Tuesday 19th, I will head south down to Scarborough, taking the wiggly route down through the Royal National Park (Sir Bertram Stevens Drive), while I still have daylight ,and riding over the Sea Cliff Bridge before coming back up the main road.
Thanks to some incredible efforts by Gaz, I've got my Zumo GPS loaded up with Aussie maps, planned and loaded these routes already. Neither are particularly long routes, but I'm reckoning on only having about 1.5 hours of daylight.
If any of the Krew wish to (and are able to) join me, then you'd be very welcome. I figure on getting away from my hotel in Sydney by about 17:00 and am happy for others to join in along the route.
Wednesday 20th - I need to attend the conference dinner, we're taking the ferry to Manly beach (as recommended by Indian) and will enjoy the harbour lights - but sadly no riding that day.
Thursday 21st - I will need to get the bike back to Rosskko before (very sadly) having to come back home on Friday 22nd.
My daughter celebrates her 16th birthday on the 22 Apr, which unfortunately I will miss. As penance, she has signed me up for a 5km "colour me obstacle rush" fun run with her and a friend on Saturday 23rd (involves running, overcoming obstacles including (topically) inflatable kangaroos while being pelted with paint.). Not sure that I will really feel like running anywhere after getting into London Heathrow at 05:45, but it's a Dads' life!
Bring it on!

Feet on the pegs, hands on the grips and I'm touching nothing else! Apart from maybe a coldie or two (with gloves on?)Kaptain Holister wrote:We'll fill you in on the local fauna when you get here BAEBorn Again Eccentric wrote:Heck - this time next week, I'll be on the ride :D:D

Bike is looking really sweet Rosskko.rosskko wrote:Just need to fix my alternator now after a flat battery during a shakedown ride this morning.
Try the brushes first.
Looks perfect for staying Kool . If we do get rain, I'll just tuck in behind someone with a fairing or just grin and bare (sic) it, with the emphasis on a big cheesy grin.Gaz80 wrote:Kool number plate Rosskko!
And it's my kind of seat cover colour - if I'd known you had that I could have made you an offer as I just recently bought a new grey comfort seat cover from the UK.
BAE will love it as the weather is staying hot - just as he requested.
Cheers
Hmmm...best I stay awake for the conference, especially as I am chairing at least one of the technical sessions and contributing to the rest. I will rely on my colleagues nudging me every now and again...and lots of coffee!indian036 wrote:And somewhere in there is a conference to give (minimal) attention to.
I think your daughter and mine (affectionately known as 'the brat') would get on well. She's the one who keeps reminding me that I had a pet dinosaur when I was a child . . .
Totally agree about daughters.Born Again Eccentric wrote:Daughters are funny beasts - I enjoy some good banter with mine. Self depreciating humour seems to work well given that they all assume that anyone that was around before they pitched up, must have been a product of the stone age. Mine keep badgering me about a holiday in Australia (and New Zealand), so who knows they may get to meet your daughter some day.
