Hi all,
I've ridden an R1150GS as my main means of transport for ten years and it is with mixed emotions that I enter the world of K100's.
The very first time I went on the back of a 'proper' motorbike was with my dad on his 1988 K100RT. That would have been some time in the early 90s.
Although he lived in Italy and I'm in the UK we toured around the world together. The first trip together was in 1998 to the euro demo in Bonn. I had a Honda CB750 at the time. Probably the most special trip was the last one we did together to Nordkapp for his 70th birthday - my first big trip on the GS and dads last big trip on a bike.
Sadly dad died in December 2013 and so his K100RT is now mine and I'm in the final stages of importing it to the UK.
I got some great advice on the GS forums from Mike P who I believe was also a regular on here.
Mike will also be sadly missed.
So you see why I say it's mixed emotions to join the K100 community this way, but I look forward to it and to making sure dads old bike still gets ridden for as long as it can.
