Hi
I have two questions.

I've purchased an oil seal from Munich Motorcycles for the front engine cover behind the timing gear. It does not have the inner spring.
How do I install it? do I apply grease, oil prior to installation?

I also purchased the spring which covers the vacuum hose from the FPR to the throttle bodies. I purchased it from BMW. I noticed there are two springs, one wound onto the other.
Is this correct or have I been given two springs? The photos aren't detailed enough for me to make a comparison.
All replies appreciated.

Regards

Gabriel

The Teflon design timing cover oil seal works without assistance of a spring. The book says soak in oil for two hours prior to installation on the shaft. The Teflon seals I've fitted have all had a light brown lip witha fine helical groove in the lip material so that the rotation direction for which it is designed will wind oil back towards the wet side. I.e. incorrect rotation direction will cause the unit to pump instead of seal

Are you referring to Part #2 in this diagram?

Front cover oil seal and mysterious spring! Front_10

If yes, then read Post #17 in this thread..

How long are the springs individually?  Normally these hose protection springs are a single unit.

Hi

I've been doing some research and I'm even more confused.
PTFE oil seals if they are the oil seal I have are to be installed dry and a special tool should be used when installing the seal to avoid damaging the lip???.
The victorreinz website includes detailed info.Cheers
