I got this bike and it had ben sitting for about a year.
I put a new battery on it and new gas and after about
20 times on the starter it fired up. It ran sluggish so
I took the fuel rail off with the injectors on it and
when you hit the starter they "the injectors" would not fire but if you hit
the starter real fast after about 10 times they will start firing.
I put the injectors and rail back on and I may have to hit the starter
about 10-20 time before it will crank.  any suggestions? I'm not
sure what makes the injectors fire.

You shouldn't have been able to post here because you haven't yet introduced yourself in the Members Introduction Forum. Better go do that first Very Happy .

Could be the fuel pump. You should be able to hear it run for a few seconds after you release the start button.

There is an intro showing there now so we will all forgive you, but if ever we meet you will have to buy the first beer Laughing

That starting issue seems to be related to the load shedding relay, start relay and fuel injection relay and how they interact in the starting process so the first thing to do is check out the state of the earthing point which is under the tank and on the gearbox just above the shift lever. There will be a heap of brown wires attached and maybe a couple of black wires.
Clean up the terminals (use a product called DeoxIt it is really good) and check out how it goes.
While you are under the tank it's a good opportunity to clean all the plugs and sockets of the wiring as we see many with problems from corrosion there.

There will be a few more along soon to throw in some suggestions from the collective wisdom and they will also ask for pics of the beast.

Having had recent experience with injectors, I wonder what you mean by, 'fire'. They should 'squirt' when turning over the starter. When you release the starter button you should hear the fuel pump run on for a couple seconds. If you are not getting fuel, your fuel pump doesn't work or the computer isn't telling the pump to work. Check the serial cable on the computer under the seat to make sure it is clean and plugged in fully, there is a small clip that will prevent you from pulling the cable off if it is connected correctly. Then pull the starter out and clean the brushes. The injectors could be obstructed, but not usually all of them at once. Also, look inside the tank, the rubber that holds the fuel pump in place breaks down with age, and plugs the fuel pump, I had this experience in 2008 or 09. I recently thought my injectors were bad and it turned out to be something else not even related. But these are items to check, that are common and generally fairly easy.

I'm not sure what makes the injectors fire.
There are 2 things needed for the injectors to fire.
First... Fuel pressure. As soon as the starter is pressed, the pump supplies 65psi to the front of the fuel rail. The fuel pressure regulator (FPR) regulates that down to 36psi which is the operating pressure for the injectors. The FPR also compensates for any changes in fuel pressure due to useage and changes in pressure within the intake manifold during acceleration which affects the flow rate of the injector (see vacuum tube connected to #4 throttle body). Excess fuel is returned to the tank
Second... The injectors are pulsed by the FICU. While the engine is in start mode or running, they receive constant +12V from the FI relay but are switched to earth by the FICU. All injectors fire at the same time. Our Ks do not use sequential injection. The FICU adjusts the pulse time duration according to sensor information like HES (rpm), water temp (mainly at start), air flow (load), throttle position (wide open/closed).

Your injectors sound like they're ok. Keep the water out of your tank and they'll last for ages.
I see a fuel supply problem. Take the fuel hose off the front of the rail (run it into a container) and see what sort of pressure you're getting. There should be a strong flow. If that's good then I'd look at the electricals as Rick suggested.

Just be careful how long you crank the motor with the starter each time as this can cause damage to starter and battery if you over do it.

I checked all the connections under the tank everything looks good.
sometimes I can hit the starter and it will fire rite up it runs fine at idle
a little sluggish at low to mid throttle and fine when I rev it up .
when I shut it off and hit the starter it will not start . I can try it
four or five times and it will not hit at all then the next time I hit it
it will fire rite up again .when I drove it down the road its a little slow
about taking any gas but I can throttle up pretty hard and it rives up
and runs fine as long as I stay hard on the throttle.

Whats up with that ?

Check the air filter housing and the intake tract for leaks. If air gets into the system after the air flow meter has told the engine computer then it plays havoc.
