Hi all

Just a quick one.

I have 3 spoke wheels on my K100 RS, like this:

Wheel interchange $T2eC16FHJHIE9nysd9hEBQjCurmfSw~~60_35

is it possible to swap them out for this style wheel:

Wheel interchange K75%20front%20silver%20wheel

Its not for my RS but for another one that I will be Cafe/bobbering Smile

Thanks all.

Rear wheel is a straight swop but you'll need a complete front end including forks, brakes and yokes for the front wheel.
Been discussed a few times but normally the swap is other way round to get the wider rims on an 8v.
Someone did manage to get wires on his K which would be really cool for a custom K. Not sure how it was done.

Aha OK, so am I right in thinking the 8v had the y spoke and the 16v have the 3 spoke wheels? I assume it would be better to find a k100/k75 for conversion rather than a k1100?

Thanks

Certainly going to be cheaper to buy. I bought a rough but running K100 in February for £300 as a basis for a custom.
Some would say that the 16v, while more powerful, is not as, um, solid as the 8v. Wheel interchange 652573
Parts for the 8v tend to easier to find and cheaper, too.
Still on the subject of wheels, be aware that the K1100LT has the same rim size as the K100 and uses bias ply tyres.
Whereas the RS has wider rims and wears radials. Still need a front end swap, though.
What sort of custom do you have in mind?
When you start, keep us up to date with progress. We have a new custom section on the forum to keep it all together.

That's certainly the type of money I am looking at. Where did you find one at that  price?

I will keep an eye out for an older 8v k100 or K75.

I intend to build something very much like this :
Wheel interchange THEGiMS

I spotted it on the streets of Milan on holiday recently. I will be using this design as the Base and making some changes.

LED headlight, clean the looks up a bit, make it a bit tidier and some custom led brake lights / rear end.

Ummm, on the forum. Cool
Young guy was having a problem with it and was looking for advice on fixing it. Think he got fed up up with it and said he was going to sell it.
I had money in his hand the next morning.
Ah, youth is wasted on the young.
Turned out to be a dodgy old immobilizer. As long as a brick runs, there's not much wrong with it.
The previous one I bought, an RT, was £380. Had to beat him down from £400 and he contacted me!
I'd advertised on gumtree for a K100 project and had three emails. You have to be careful with the wording as they aren't happy about you putting it in the bikes for sale section instead of the wanted section.
Sometimes it's a matter of just keeping your eyes open when passing  open garage doors.
I know where there's a rough, black K100RS not five miles from me, but I would need a bigger shed!
Check out Busas's custom brick on the thread ' cafe racer...mod... Done in Portugal'.
It's a peach and it's a style that I would like to follow.
Mine has the radiator cowl as well and I think it makes a big difference to the looks.

COMPUTERS, Olaf, COMPUTERS!!!! LFB has had an 8v silver fairing on it since the back end of February. CJ's right about the wheels though; the downside of snowflakes and cast iron discs is trying to keep the rust from eating into the alloy and discolouring it. I considered fitting three-spokes because they're easier to keep clean, but lost enthusiasm somewhere along the way and the thought of washing LFB's wheels every day doesn't exactly re-spark the enthusiasm glands.
