Sold my Super Tenere so I finally have some space to begin building the next toy. Bits so far include '86 K100 frame, '87 RS engine, '99 K1100 front end, gearbox, rear drive and wheels. The initial assembly is just to find anything I want to cut off or add to the frame before powder-coating; also to find out what bits I might be missing and have to find. I don't think it will happen quickly.

This is the style I'm aiming at:New project Bmw-k100-bmw-k100-custom-scrambler-mlkshk-18321-900x675

Seem to have more space with it all assembled instead of spread all over.

Yep separated parts do take up a lot of room, are you thinking a solo seat, like the coppers used? Rack on the back?

Most likely I'll use a dual seat.  Because I have one.  It will be a rack on the back rather that the original tail piece and it needs a loop for a gearsack type bag (dog-carrier) . Probably loops for soft luggage each side.

I cant see why Stan, unless Al is planning to chop up the frame, but maybe think more K100 funduro as apposed to K100GS

Shouldn't need any engineering certification unless I cut and weld the frame. Bodywork changes don't matter.

As it stands the vehicle is identified as an '86 model (because of the frame/VIN number). It doesn't matter that the engine is a different year and I have papers for both. The different front end/rear end is all bolt on with no mods required.  The blue slip inspection guy wouldn't have a clue that they come from a different model anyway.

Good to hear. The bloke who did my blue slip for my orange bike DID know his bikes and was very thorough with the inspection.
