OK my pump was kaput.  Bench tested bad.
Replaced pump with aftermarket pump that was approved in some other post.  Bought. Check.
Checked connection from connector upstream, voltage good but at 11.57v.
Pump will not work.
OK connection coming from harness is good,  but voltage in not there at the fuel sender connection wires to pump.
Leads me to believe the problem is at the termination fuel block going thru tank. Maybe even at that ground lug on the outside.
question, there is corrosion at that point.  Can I just tack weld that with a GTAW torch?  Come to think of it, this might be the best way forward..
otherwise...

If this is the problem, my guess is another fuel sender unit.  8/85 is the build date.

I have another k100 but the connector is another style and the wires are already short as well as the tank connector is a little odd into the tank bulkhead.

I am to surmise that getting this will end my problems.

I've been following many other posts on start issues and have determined that I am getting pulses, water connection is good, relays are working.  Just nothing to get my pump excited to wish me a start situation.

Am I going down the correct path?
Really want this flexit sidecar going.

Thanks everyone.

First off, 11.57 is a totally dead battery.  Anything done with it will not provide reliable data for troubleshooting.  You need to get it charged ASAP and if it won't hold a charge get it replaced.  There is nothing really worthwhile you can do before that.

Just to clarify the 08/85 tank, has it got the connector on the front left? This is the early type of tank.

The other tank has the connector at the rear on the right?

On the older type those connectors give trouble. I had mine do that and no power was getting through to the fuel pump. You can open out the ends of the male pins a little with a precision screwdriver to make sure they make a tight fit in the connector on the tank. Refitting the plug should be a tighter fit.

As Point-Seven-Five says, sort battery charge or battery first. Nothing can be relied on with a dud battery.
