As Bikey is still not fixed i am going to start bombarding you all with Yam pictures, which i know is wrong but if Bikey gets fixed than this problem will go away..... (hint hint) 

So this weekend i was out and about just exploring and getting to know the Yam. I washed him, which always make me feel like he is a shoddy product with his silly flexible panels, feels like it could have been finished better, WD40'ed him and then headed out to enjoy the sun! Stopped at Devils bridge, a pretty popular bike meet and then headed off to explore!

Unfortunately the Yam seems to be a bit of a drama queen. We came across a ford, i stopped, looked at it and decided it probably wasnt too deep. Unfortunately it was deeper than it looked and with his silly scoop thing under the radiator he tends to catch the water. it was also slippy as hell and the tyres have no tread in the middle. I did managed to get to the other side but not without thinking i was going to lose it! Managed to ride out the other side and take the picture and then set off along the single track road, which was covered in mud and got narrower and narrower and muddier and muddier.....at which point the back end slipped again but managed to catch it. 5 more miles down this track i was really beginning to dread having to turn around and cross the ford again but i found a village which had another exit! i think he either needs better tyres or i need to avoid fords in the future.....Bikey would have done it

Is this your way of telling us you are considering buying a tractor? There is a forum place for people like that.

Ha ha they were rather upset when i said i had tried to take it across a ford. I got told off! No sense of adventure.....It does need tyres which actually have some sort of tread though!

So how are you going to get him across that big ford west of you.....as in the Irish Sea? Anyway the Eccentrics are looking forward to seeing you over!

I can't guarantee a meet at the port unless the leprechauns are out. Will have a word with Ringfad [Simon] as he seems to have become an official greeter. Its not an option for me to go on up to the port as we need to sort the camp site so we may be giving you some simple directions. Really only 5 points to remember and its not so hard. If you can, having a few € might be useful as we will probably direct you through the port tunnel which is €3 at the time you would be using it but they take cards anyway. Lots of ATM machines here to get some.

I'll get some before I come over as euros seem to be worthless now :p

Worthless they may be......until you try buying Guinness with those funny square edge coins from the country that gave us square cars and square steering wheels.

Funny I sat on a very nice FJR yesterday........impressive. It just had a head gasket job done and was running sweet.

Its a toy for going out for a Sunday Times on a sunny day.....I long ago got over the idea of bikes that are not suited to longer trips. As my daughter might say, like a blonde, good to look at but of limited use.

Hes not even good to look at, bikey was beautiful, the yam isn't. Hes good at speed, like a barge on corners but is very comfy for the big miles. Just not single track muddy roads...

The clutch is a straight forward fix and if you don't mind getting down and a bit dirty then we can talk you through it. The better you know the brick the better they are to ride.  Like I say to many it's just nuts and bolts.

You all make it sound so complicated though! And I know it will be when I start meeting seized bolts, I never do anything mechanicey so a big job like that is massively daunting!

First one you meet is the exhaust header nuts and studs.....
Swing arm nuts....

But ther ea re a few around you could help. Does Bikey go at all?

Erm he was rideable when he went into the retirement shed.....battery is flat now though he was a bit of a pain to ride with the slipping clutch but it was just about doable. Not sure if he'd make it to Ireland...

So are you going to host a work party of K riders and tools to fix your K? Seems they do this in Australia, someone organises one, buys in beer, steaks, space for a sleeping bag, parking space for a K or a van and everyone goes along to help or inspire.

Charge up his battery and keep him running because if you don't other problems will emerge.....

Does sound like a plan..... I would love him to run again! Id show you all the good roads around here too!

Unfortunately I have a family event planned for Saturday 1st August (and Sunday). We will work something out to get you sorted.

Dragon Rally... February. Gets home in May. Did you take the long way round?

Just like the way it takes 2 hours to get home from the office that's a mile away........sounds like Becky is becoming an Eccentric too......next thing is there will be 4 of us over in Blackpool doing a clutch on a certain 'mature' K100!
