Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am a proud owner of a 1992 K100RS that had 5992 miles on the clock until I rode it back from Miami Fl  to VA- 900 or so miles. 14 hours one day having difficulty keeping this rocket under 100 on I95. Garage kept, everything original. Lost left side mirror lens, got replacement, saw pictures on here as to where the clamp was to go and I'm very grateful. Looking forward to some tips - looking to figure out where to get the cigarette lighter adapter for the battery plug on the side of the bike and some type of GPS holder. Preferably a clamp that would hold in front of my face from the small shield. Any suggestions?

Welcome along. Their are many clever solutions for GPS mounts on the forum. Use the forum Google search (or is the Google Forum search?) facility on the portal page to locate threads on the subject.

Sounds like its almost heaven in West Virginia!

Since this is a very low miles K have a look at the tyres as they are likely to be old and hard even if plenty tread on them. Give a thought to new ones, they will make a big difference.

Have a look on the home page at the section on what to do if you have just bought a K.

It doesn't say to make room for another one though. They do tend to come in pairs. . . .

I attach my GPS suction cup mount from the inside of my fairing and it works very well.  No where else to attach it with the bars so close to the fairing.  It stays very steady and it has yet to fall off.  (if you zoom in on my avatar you can see it).  The GPS covers the speedo, but I just have the GPS display the speed as well so I don't really need the speedo anyway.  I just have to keep it under 40 kph over the limit or the police can tow the bike...  Both the GPS mount and the adapter that plugs into the BMW power socket to power a cigarette lighter socket are cheap and common on EBay.

Thanks for the info- I'll check out E bay for the adapter. I was thinking about putting the suction cup where you suggested but am worried it would fall off. My GPS falls from my car windshield after awhile and I would consider a more solid attachment but thanks for the ideas.
Tires are fairly new. The owner actually replaced those 2 years ago and I inspected them thoroughly knowing I was going on a long road trip.
I have some pictures and I'll try to get them on here.
As far as price, well, let's just say it was a Christmas gift from a rich family member with way too many toys.

I used to use a suction cup on the screen of my RT.
Best position, but didn't trust it either.
I used the small length of nylon cord that you buy to keep your glasses around your neck when not wearing them.
Not that I would use such a thing. 
It has a small loop at each end and makes a good security tether for the Sat nav.
Still use it when using my go pro camera.
Plus they're really cheap!
You can buy an adapter for your power socket in any good car accessory store. Think it's called a DIN type. Think Mercs use them.

I tether my GPS mount as well with a very thin, short wire.  Colour coordinate it to your bike to impress your friends.  I also tether my mirror pods (my 89 RS is a slightly different design to your 92 mirrors).  On my very first ride one of my mirrors went skittering down the highway so lesson learned.  There are some GPS mounts that attach to the hole in the handle bars where a mirror would usually go.  I bought one of these mounts thinking I was going to have the hot set up BUT couldn't do it as the bars were too close to the fairing.  My suction cup mount to the inside of the fairing hasn't come off in six months so that's what I'm "sticking" with. 

As for the power socket, consider hardwiring it to your battery instead of using an adapter.  Fewer connections mean fewer problems.  I hardwired a dual USB plug for my GPS and cell phone.  A five minute job that took me half an hour.
