Well I had an unexpected surprise this week

I ordered some new NGK plugs and of course they did not have the nut on the end so I sent an email to NGK Australia and asked if they were available.

Good morning Craig,
Thank you for your prompt reply and thank you for the offer of some terminal nuts.
My address is

Ross Gallagher

In future, is it possible to order these with the plugs? I tend to shop at Repco and they don't carry the D7EA plugs as shelf stock and they always have to order them in.

Regards

Ross

Hi Ross

The terminal nuts can be ordered in by the part number NT4245:B, however I’ll send you a handful so you possibly won’t need to order any in etc..

Kind regards

Craig

This lack of terminal nuts as standard must be very recent. I replaced a set of D7EAs on LFB about six months back and they came with the nuts. A new set of D7EAs bought for a K100LT I engine-checked last week didn't have them. Note to self: don't forget to remove the old ones next time round.

A proper motorbike spare parts hoarder never throws anything away! You never know when you'll need it again. If I die with a shed full of ancient metal and rubber bits and not one of my remaining friends or rellies knows what it is they are looking at, at least they can say, 'Well, he had his interests'. Peculiar to them as they might be.
:pirat:

Sent an Email to NGK Canada and this is their answer:

Hi Bert,
Unfortunately we do not sell screw-on terminal nuts. However any terminal nut removed from one of our spark plugs’ with a  removable terminal nut would work. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Kind regards,

I've always found it humorous when reps (and polititcians) are using corporate speak and have no real answer, they will often state the bleeding obvious or use phrases like "Please let us know if you have any other questions" when what they really mean is "you can ask us this but don't ask us that."

I will remove 4 from the bag and send the rest up to Smithy. He can sell them to you all for 3 bits of firewood per day per man.
Unless the fire ban is still on.

I had to order my plugs in specially, like many. My friendly supplier requested the nuts be supplied as well. You can probably guess the result.

However, my mate at the shop rang the supplier, and a couple of days later the nuts arrived. No charge to me.

When I replace these plugs, I'll take care not to throw them away before I remove the nuts!

Bill

So a guy walks in a sits at the bar, orders a drink and picks up some nuts. Just before he pops one in his mouth he hears it say to him, " Gee that haircut really suits you!"
The guys is stunned, as his drink hits the bar before him, he throws another nut in his mouth, before he can close his mouth and start chewing a little voice comes out of his mouth. The nut shouts,"Nice jeans!"
He thinks himself crazy, but tries another nut with his first mouthful of beer. Before he can get it to his mouth it yells, "You've probably got a hot wife, coz you sir are one good lookin' fella!"
He drops the nut in disbelief, turns to the barkeep and says, "Hey man what's with these nuts?!
"Oh" says the barman, "They're complimentary!"

Pretty much like the ones Rossco got.
