Welcome hayshaker, that's a nice bike to have, Mine has given me thousands of miles of fun (some grief but we don't mention that).
Feel free to ask if you can't find any info, it's all here somewhere but the lads are nice and patient.
Good luck with the rebuild.

Patience is the key for all of us. Going off the photo it looks like you have plenty of time and a lot of spinach to eat. Which one is you?

It was my understanding that this is a non-offensive forum,  that is why the grandkids photo is there-not mine.  Being the new guy I don't want to cause a ruckuss just yet.

Its a lovely photo to be proud of and we do all swap a few stories. The forum is great for not just technical help but some of us do also meet up from time to time. A fair percentage of us have grown up children, myself included. Many more are grandparents but there are young uns too like Becky over in Blackpool in England. For some of us we enjoy the opportunity to chat with like minded people. I have enjoyed my time here and met some great people I wouldn't have otherwise met. The guys in Australia seem to have that well sorted, getting together to help each other out despite some huge travel distances.

A lot depends on your plans for the bike, ie put it back together or try to make a new bike of it. Ks last well and the issues are already well documented in various parts of the forum. Lots of advice on sequence and what tasks are advisable as you put it back together.

Might be an idea to start a new thread for your K. When you put up some problem you may well get a link to where it has been sorted before and its nice to have them all in your thread. Its also very useful if you are ever selling your K as fellow forum users will know the bike. That's how I got mine.

In ireland we tend to ride all year round so we don't take the Ks off the road for the winter. We don't have a four or five month window for repair and renewal and taking a bike apart. For some the solution is to have more than one K. A sunny day in December is usually very cold and nothing better than a K for keeping warm while enjoying a winter ride.
