On my 87 LT i hvae the standard screen and am suffering with wind noise.  I wear a new Schberth C3 so it should not be my lid causing the probelm.

Even when i peer over the top of the screen the noise is so but its getting a real problem.

The only answer is to lean forward and look through the screen but this hurts my back.

So the question is this...are there any screens made that have a slight flip and the top to help push the air up over my head.  Adding a small extar screen to the top is not an option as we know.

I know this is a problem with the K's but what are the soloutions?

Mike

I have a tall screen on the RT and find it great. At first I thought too much but I have got to like it too  much to change it. Downside is that I look through it, fine at all times except night time drizzle against oncoming lights. I can ride with my visor open too which I really enjoy. I had a lower one on the LT which I could look over and was happy with that. I think Motorworks might have an option for you. Alternatively, if you have someone good, you can bend the Perspex yourself with some carefully applied warm air.

Mike I had the exact same problem with my LT. I only realised how bad it was when I drove an RS and the quiet of the clean air woke me up to it. The curved original screen with laminar lip was never going to be any good for me and after looking at lots of aftermarket designs I bit the bullit and bought a second hand electric off an 1100. If you can get a ride on one to try the screen you'll be sold on it. I drop mine in town and raise it for open road - best of both worlds.

I have to agree with 88KE.  The 1100LT electric screen is the best of both worlds.  Raised it provides a quiet ride (although a very strange experience of being pushed in the back by the wind curving around the bike). Lowered it is good for slower speeds, or if it is raining at night, when it is difficult to see clearly through the screen.

If you have the means to convert to the electric screen, it is an easy job according to 88KE.

The K1100LT/late K75RT electric windscreen is better in many respects but it does let some water through when it's raining.

I do have a very tall screen already.  Any taller and i won't be able to lok over it.

As i ride in all weathers and day and night i need to be able to see over the screen.

I've looked at the electric screen option and its very expensive...£100 just for the motor and no fixing brackets etc.

Earplugs are your friend. The Schuberth C3 (or the newest, C3 Pro) are the quietest modular full-face helmets on the market at 82 decibels in open air at 100 kph. If that combination attenuates only a bit of the noise for you then the electrically raised screen really does work. I use mine on my RT up and down and everywhere in between, rain or shine, night or day. In most cases I can look right over the top. Also, I have two windscreens, an abbreviated version for Summer and one for The Wet.

I looked at small deflectors but they all sit exactly where i look and i hate things in my vision like that.

Just been for a spin and found something very interesting.  With the visor down the wind noise is double that if the visor on my Schuberth is up...now i find that strange

Mike, deflector was adjusted to my height - 190 cm. I dont look through deflector, but over it. Top of deflector in higher position is 2 cm under eye line

I think i have a very high screen as the very top of it is about 5 cm below my eye line.

Deflector is good solution because kills air buffeting and screen doesnt bent on higher speed.

I've been told on here and by a mate that an electric screen from a K1100LT is a good buy and an easy fit.

I think i can get the whole kit for about £240..is it worth it?

Also is it really that easy to fit?

I have just changed the main loom so not totally useless...will i be able to fit the screen?

What parts are needed?

Mike

I believe electric screen 1100 lt and some k 100 lt is best solution, but its expencive. Here on this forum you would find detailed instruction how to install electric screen with pics

I dont have that experience but you need motor, screen, some connecting bars, wire plug and switch

Here is a link https://www.k100-forum.com/t50-mounting-an-electric-windshiel-on-a-k100rt
