Yep, another fella from Oz.

I've had an R65 for a fair while and an Ariel for longer and I just sorta accidentally bought an ex-police '84 K100RT. It has 124,000km on it.

It appears to have been stopped by a dead fuel pump and never brought back to life. The whole filler cap thing is missing, there are no sidecovers and the fuel pump, of course, doesn't work. Other than that it looks a bit uncared for but basically good. Please tell me that $500 was the right price.

I'll sit and look it it for a while before I decide whether to part it out or repair it. The masses of excellent advice on this forum should help me decide.

Cheers
Ray

Hi Ray welcome to the funny farm.
$500 is a fair to good price and with some of the wealth of knowledge here I am sure it could be saved from the death of an organ doner.

Welcome. There are heaps of good folk who'll happily assist with any questions and advice you may need. Some might even offer tools and spares. Some of them aren't even from OZ. A good mob, nevertheless.

No problem at all. $500 was a fair price. Now do you want to know was it a fair price to you or to the Vendor?

In truth it sounds ok because with a lot of help from the guys here you will get it running and then the fun starts. They have already warned you about having 1 1/2 to 2 bikes each, which is true. They carry a disease called the K-Pox. Basically it gets under your skin and is permanent, just look at the number that turn up from owners who parked them up because the body starting going down or just felt it was time to park it and just admire it. The effect is that those Ks breed and multiply like rabbits. What the lads have not told you is that many have more than 2. Or that they bring great buddies, some of whom can ply you with beer and other nefarious substances in order to exchange extremely interesting life stories that began in a certain era which ended with the advent of the Honda 4s in about 1969. There is no escape! Why would anyone want to.

Get that K going and get out on it.....nice new tyres so it feels confident on the road.

Welcome aboard, the K's arn't that difficult to own, parts substitution is an art form we attempt, So if you fancy fiddling with it, you will find a toyota corolla from 1988 to 92 ish will have a 52mm pump that can be used in place of the possibly dead bosch unit, just grab one from a wreckers, or a falcon pump from the eb to el v8's do it too, plus I think it was a gti 1.6ltr peugot, but any way if in doubt take the pump to your favourite auto store and go through their pump books, If you think the fuel injectors are maybe sus then grab a pressurepac can of carby cleaner and and some rubber hose and have a go at cleaning em by flushing them out, you can also drop the pump in a bottle of kero and let it soak to see if the bottom rollers can be coaxed to rotate, and blast it also with the carby cleaner. this will give you something to think on whilst the pc is updating, yours not the bikes. Welcome
