Hullo to all from a sinking Somerset. I needed a big/reliable/good mpg/home maintainable commuting bike 2 years ago and bought a K100RS with 46k on the clock. It now has 59k and what a machine. Last year i rode it 1270 miles in 5 days and it delivered. Weather was not to kind either. I get the normal niggling problems with vibration at 65mph, and the intermitant speedo. But thats called character. The bike gets gets ridden in all weathers, and lives under a bike cover on the street. The mods i've fitted are a piece of rubber matting between the rear wheel and clutch arm bellows, a set of crash bars, and a givi box. Thanks for a great forum. Plenty of quality infomation for a newbie on how to maintain one of these bikes using your toolbox not your wallet. Regards. Blacknails.

Hi from a sinking Somerset. 177912 Hi 'blacknails' !
Love your nickname; have some of my own right now (just got out of the shed where I've been fidling at my bikes).
Very welcome over here and yes: there is lots of good info, given in a nice way by blokes 'all over the world'.
In fact: there's always someone online, no need to feel lonely at any given time  Cool .
Do yourselve a favour and paste the last 7 digits of your VIN in your signature ? In case of technical trouble that's proven to be very helpfull.

Enjoy and: hope to meet someday, somewhere !

Jos

Welcome to the forum, black nails.
Sometimes cleaning the sender on the rear hub cures a dodgy speedo.

Blacknails,

You are very welcome and great to see another new face. Good news is that there seems to be a few members down your way too so a chance to actually meet a few of the names face to face.

Enjoy the K and the forum.

Hi Ya Blacknails, are they like that because you cant use a hammer or are you a diesel fitter.

And don't worry about the sinking its just the global warming that isn't happening  BTW it was 48.7°C at Birdsville 2 days ago and probably hotter yesterday.

Welcome to the Knuthouse. Is that sinking feeling because Australia won the Ashes 5 nil and look like doing another whitewash in the One Day Games.
